Undeterred by my lack of success in trying to get info about a Wilko Johnson / Solid Senders BBC In Concert show, I thought I'd throw another one into the forum to see if anyone has any ideas or info about another recording. Back in 1977, the Pistols were interviewed about "God Save The Queen", and in particular the nature of the then-controversial lyrics, and a fragment of this was included on the "Some Product" LP a few years later. Here is the section in question:
Does anyone here know who the interviewer might have been? It sounds a little like Francis Matthews (although unlikely) and also slightly like Roger Scott, but can anyone actually identify it or the original programme that it appeared on? Any help, etc..

Hmmm... sounds like a young John Stapleton to me, which would fit his career timeline - he was a regional news reporter for Bill Grundy's "Today" show on Thames 1971-75, before switching to the BBC and their regional news programme for London, "Nationwide", from 1975-80, so if it is him it would have been one of his filmed inserts for the show.
I'm surprised there's no credit given on the album sleeve and no mention of the interview on any of the official/unofficial Pistol websites...

Couldn't find any info but another one on Radio Clyde is an interesting and amusing listen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMUuJ1s11j0 Is it just me or are some of the Lyrics of God Save The Queen almost Shakespearean: "Oh God save history God save your mad parade Oh Lord God have mercy All crimes are paid Oh when there's no future How can there be sin We're the flowers In the dustbin We're the poison In your human machine"
