hi William, yes I know of the band and they covered the Alan Hull / Lindisfarne song "Clear White Light" on the other side of "Hiroshima" - to my ears it's a brighter version than the original.

Fascinating viewing! Must confess I don't actually remember the show at the time (I would've been 7, maybe slightly too young to watch it).

Fantastic! I've been wanting to see a complete edition for this series for ages, but with little hope. The first edition has also been uploaded, featuring White Plains. That whole Yotube channel is pretty impressive- well worth taking a long look through the videos. Just hope it doesn't suddenly get taken down!

I recognise the bass player. He sang on totp and was on First Edition's Beach Baby. Another guitrist looks like a Flowerpot Man. The others are unfamiliar? Over to you, Peter Check!

PS Is the Bass player on the Mud the same bloke with a dodgy tash?

I think Pete Nelson and Robin Shaw of White Plains were in the Flowerpot Men. In fact Flowerpot Men / White Plains / First Class were pretty much the same musical concept with slightly varying line-ups. Responsible for some of the era's finest US-influenced harmony pop, no less.
There was yet another Flowerpot Men-related group in 1970 called Stamford Bridge, just to confuse things further. Hope we see the other remaining Ed & Zed episodes uploaded too.

Mud were peddling some pretty lightweight pop on the evidence of their Ed & Zed performance, although they did do a pretty groovy version of the Ides of March hit 'Vehicle' on London Weekends 'South Bank Summer' the same year (and yes they were wearing dungarees for that too!)
