I buy everything related to missing episodes just to show "the powers that be" (and I might be referring to God here) how much interest there still is in them. Richard Well as far as the BBC is concerned you've got little to worry about Richard considering that the current, somewhat Quixotic incarnation of the show is busy chasing a 'preferred' yet largely non-existent audience demographic, shedding much of its existing audience in the process! With the irrevocable decline of Nu Who then one suspects that the Beeb are more reliant on Classic Who than ever for revenue...

The extras on the new release certainly are excellent and enticing, but I'm still questioning the decision of only producing a black and white upgrade of POTD.The front cover of the July release sports a gorgeous colour illustration and the colour version on the original release was wonderful, especially with it's imaginative rendering of the surface of Vulcan in warm sandy colours, so why no colour version, especially when the latest animations have both included them?I suppose this would have taken more time and money.Small point but it would really have left the new animated POTD release perfect.

It's not just a case of time and money, although that's certainly a factor. If you're going to do a colour version of the animation it's something that you plan for and work at from Day 1. This is not a story that is being completely reanimated from scratch, only various shots and sequences throughout the episodes are, so if you were going to do a colour version, you'd need to do it all in post, as the BBC America colourisation on the original was - and given that the team pretty much hated what had been done in that regard, I can't imagine that it's something that they would have been keen to repeat.
