I’d be extremely surprised if Singapore hadn’t been checked. I’d also be extremely surprised If the broadcaster was still in the same location as 40 years ago. Are there 16mm film collectors in Singapore? Or what about Hong Kong? Yeah, I would be more than confident to bet on Singapore having been checked up and down by now. Though it might not be entirely impossible to find the odd Orphan out in East Asian collections, the UK or Australia, maybe New Zealand seem to be the most resonable places to expect some private collections with anything of interest. But, if anyone really wants to follow this six years old, ominous and rather unbelievable Amazon review, a quick Google search reveals the school mentioned there is still in operation (and according to Wikipedia, there has indeed been a change in the head master's office in 1978),they even list a Email address to contact them. Though, it seems highly unfeasible to presume they would have any records about school screenings 42 years ago, especially ones that probably never happened ... And in the mid of a pandemic, they probably have more urgent issues and questions to answer than our inquiries about such. But, one can still ask them nicely, I suppose. I have already made contact with the school, if anything happens I shall let you all know. Please no one else try to contact them, we do not want to swamp them.

An old work colleague of mine said that he saw Celestial Toymaker in the early eighties. He travelled around a bit then but was able to describe and tell me the gist of the story but isn't sure whether he saw it in Pakistan in Karachi or whether he saw it in Singapore when he was there. This guy was originally from Pakistan but I have long lost contact. I did mention this to Paul Vanesis and Philip Morris some time ago.

Evening something small could be useful if it was Singapore. Could you send me a message?

All I can say is that I was at work around 1990ish and a Guy I worked with at an Indian wholesale warehouse who was from Pakistan saw me reading a DWM in my dinner hour and happened to see a photo in the article from Celestial toymaker. He told me that he had seen that one pointing at the photo. I did not believe him at first so asked him what it was about. He was able to tell me pretty much the gist of the whole story. I asked where and when he saw it and he said around 1984-86 but wasn't sure if it was at home in Karachi or whether it was in Singapore where he had travelled to around that time. I mentioned this to Paul V and Phil M in the past so I guess they must have followed it up. Unfortunately I do not work at the warehouse any longer and neither does the other guy who I only know was called Ali. I have not seen him since the mid 90s and don't even know if he is still in the country.

What is worth noting is that despite a few rumours there is no evidence of any unauthorised broadcast by a TV station.

No other information at all I'm afraid. Sorry.

No other information at all I'm afraid. Sorry. Thank you anyway, that is very useful. I shall post again if I get anywhere talking to the school and other witnesses.

Reminds me of the rumors I herd in Los Angeles in the early 90's of Troughton screenings in Canada, but nothing came of them. . . .

We've always assumed that the 6 missing episodes known to be in private hands were from different stories, and in different private hands. But perhaps ...

The question is what happened to 35mm power6? And could that be in private hands

The question is what happened to 35mm power6? And could that be in private hands This hypothesis has always interested me. Why would a 35mm reel be more likely to survive? I get the argument that the quality is much better so it’s more of a prize to a collector, but, on the other hand it’s more bulky & I would imagine the equipment to show the film more expensive & possibly less likely to be in private hands. Is there any direct evidence that it may have, at least survived the junkings?

I believe most if not all of the other episodes recorded on 35mm film ( The Daleks 4, The Dalek Invasion of Earth 5, The Wheel in Space 6, The Dominators 3, The Mind Robber 5, The Krotons 1, The Seeds of Death 5, The Space Pirates 2) were retained in the BBC film library because they were recorded on film. Why was The Power of the Daleks 6, not? Also: Currently in contact with the school. Will update if anything interesting happens.
