Just had a look on Google and school in question has a Facebook page, it may be possible for someone to check the authenticity of the Amazon claim by asking if anyone there around in the 70s remembers private screenings of films. Of course I find the whole thing unlikely as why would people from Singapore be on UK Amazon. They could have been brn in raised in Singapore and then moved to the UK. Also, since I'm pretty sure Amazon UK is the only regional amazon that is listing Power of the Daleks yet, and the BBC link directs viewers there it would be entirely possible for someone in Singapore to be on the POTD amazon uk page.

Probably unlikely but I'll follow it up. Some of you may remember I took a pretty detailed look at the Macra New Zealand lead, so I'm becoming pretty proficient in following up these school claims Cheers. D.

Now the fella's taken his review down. Or, are we looking at the possibility that the BBC asked Amazon to remove that review because an investigation is going on at the school? Talking of investigation, how is progress going asking the school members through facebook?

He probably had an onslaught of people trying to contact him and said something like: "I didn't sign up for all this. This is ________!" ha ha ha

Talking of investigation, how is progress going asking the school members through facebook? 99% chance that he was a troll, but we still have that 1% to cling too. Though I'd forget about it unless we receive any solid evidence of it's existence

Interestingly, if you go to "amazon.com.sg", it redirects you to amazon.co.uk. So maybe they do some trading in Singapore - for example, I buy a lot of things from the UK Amazon here in Portugal (amazon.pt redirects me to amazon.es, which doesn't carry a lot of the things I want and is usually more expensive).

Did anything ever come of this? Dave Crichton said: Probably unlikely but I'll follow it up. He has not logged on in years according to his profile. Is anything happening with the investigation into Macra either? If no one else knows anything or is doing anything I would be happy to dig into the Power of the Daleks report. (Better late than never even if we get nothing. At least I can feel productive)

They didn't 5-6 years ago when I lived in Singapore - the only operation Amazon had there at the time was AWS, which I suspect is still the case.

But I would at least doubt it. Still, the lead itself might have been checked by someone else years ago. PM seems to be rather confident to have checked every lead or trace for foreign broadcasters, make of that what ever you want. Still, the chances are more than slim, but you might just try to find out more, it certainly would be nice to get any new information, even if it just confirms a dead end being that. Even though especially considering the lead has never been a very reliable or trustworthy one to begin with and I doubt there is any information to find, I wouldn't get my hopes up anyways. But if you do end up unearthing Power of the Daleks or any missing material at all, I'll be here and ready to applaud, once I regain consciousness, that is.

I’d be extremely surprised if Singapore hadn’t been checked. I’d also be extremely surprised If the broadcaster was still in the same location as 40 years ago.
Are there 16mm film collectors in Singapore? Or what about Hong Kong?

Are there 16mm film collectors in Singapore? Or what about Hong Kong? Yeah, I would be more than confident to bet on Singapore having been checked up and down by now. Though it might not be entirely impossible to find the odd Orphan out in East Asian collections, the UK or Australia, maybe New Zealand seem to be the most resonable places to expect some private collections with anything of interest. But, if anyone really wants to follow this six years old, ominous and rather unbelievable Amazon review, a quick Google search reveals the school mentioned there is still in operation (and according to Wikipedia, there has indeed been a change in the head master's office in 1978),they even list a Email address to contact them. Though, it seems highly unfeasible to presume they would have any records about school screenings 42 years ago, especially ones that probably never happened ... And in the mid of a pandemic, they probably have more urgent issues and questions to answer than our inquiries about such. But, one can still ask them nicely, I suppose.
