Well, I was lucky enough to get my dream story back thanks to Phillip Morris! The one I would like to see back most of all now is the abominable snowmen. The existing episode has heaps of atmosphere. I reckon it would be a true classic. It has lots of atmosphere, but it doesn't have any incidental music, right? Just that Gregorian Chant in the background from time to time?

My vote goes to The Power Of The Daleks.
I have vague memories of it when I watched it aged five and would really like to it again.

I'm just wondering what impact DOCTOR WHO would have had if it was shown in America in the 60's.

I spoke to two people in the past who had memories of Fury, albeit very little ones.
One told me he always remembered the Doctor's amused expression when he smeared foam on Jamie's face.
The other (a lass) told me with a shiver how creepy it was when the sea-weed was growing down people's arms.
I voted Snowmen, BTW. I love Fury parts 1-4 but I'm not so fond of parts 5 & 6.

I went with Web of Fear. We know one episode existed up until 2011, and it may still do so. I can only imagine the frustration and emotions Phil went through when he found out the episode disappeared. Because I know that it may still exist, I'm really hoping that luck favors us and it will find its way home.

Completed? I'd sooner see 'Moonbase' completed than the nearby 'Underwater menace' which is edging it's way closer to completion.
I tend to be predictable on this as I favour 'Evil' and 'Fury'. But I also would like to see specific episodes I recall being strong, regardless i.e. 'Moonbase' episode 3 and 'Abominable snowmen' episode 6.
I think many people would agree it would be nice to have episode 4 of 'Tenth planet' back as it's so frustrating as it is. Again, that was one of the better episodes of that story. Two sets of different Cyberman voices trying to outdo each other; very dark tension before the Doctor regenerates; pathos as the Cybermen deplete him in the Cyberchairs, echoes of Dalek Invasion Earth there.

I'm just wondering what impact DOCTOR WHO would have had if it was shown in America in the 60's. If Hartnell and Troughton stories had been sold to the US during the 60s, there would hopefully be more lost episodes just waiting to be found. Unfortunately, America didn't start buying them until the show began using color film. I would hate to think black and white film could have hurt sales, but it is a possibility.

Hm, you've got me there. I don't know how many times I have listened to the soundtrack, but I haven't really thought about the incidental music. There is indeed as you state the Tibetan style chanting, but I can't think of other incidental music off of the top of my head. Next time I will listen out to see of there are any other compositions lurking in there.

It would be interesting to do a follow up to this poll by only including stories that nobody voted for. Something for New Year's Day maybe?

Once we get the most-talked-about ones out of our system it would be fascinating to see what emerges as next best. I've always had a hankering to see ... but I won't say as that should wait for Will's poll!

Tough choice, but I think I'm going to go for The Dalek's Masterplan, which is just ahead of Evil of the Daleks and The Highlanders for me.

If you offered me two boxes and said "inside one are both missing episodes of the Moonbase and inside the other are all the missing episodes of a random missing story", then I'd never pick the Moonbase. Simply because, much as I love that story, I think it has the best animation and would benefit least from recovery.
Although I'd be more likely to try and bargain for the recovery of both, of course - this is merely a longwinded justification of why I (and probably many others) didn't vote for the Moonbase (or Reign of Terror or Ice Warriors, either, if it comes to that)

It's regretable that some of the best dalek stories are missing.

I would categorically say the best are missing which is tragic really.
