insert code here Hmm, a moot point.
I and millions of others were impressed with the CGI effects in Avatar.
Sadly the CGI of the new Thunderbirds leaves a lot to be desire, apparently lacking the charm of the original puppets.
But CGI seems to be the way to go, just look at LOTR too.
So here's the moot point. Could CGI be used to reconstruct the wiped / lost / junked eps. of Dr. Who?

Personally I'm old school and prefer animation to CGI (Jungle Book vs Frozen anyone?), but having said that, good CGI is better than poor animation, so yes if the CGI is good enough, why not?

The best dr who cgi I've seen is the galaxy 4 on the dvd.
I take my hat off to those who made it yet wishing those at the beeb actually released it in full length and also commissioned other stories like it Sadly I can't see them investing in more.

But CGI of the Avatar/LOTR quality is going to cost many, many times more than the current animation. Heck, CGI of an average quality is going to be comparable to animation - and they can't even justify the cost of that. I can't see how that computes?

We all want it, but the technology isn't cost effective regrettably
