Whilst reading about the Drumbeat series on another thread I came across a mention of this programme from around the early sixties and on a well known site for not entirely official releases I was surprised to find a listing for 4 of these shows available Hullabaloo was a half-hour ABC-TV folk and R&B showcase from the Midlands that ran from 1963 to 1964. The now-forgotten series was broadcast late night Saturdays to the north of England only and featured British and American folk and blues artists. Checking lost shows it states that all editions exist, which I find remarkable for a show from that era and being a regional show. www.lostshows.com/default.aspx?search=hullabalooThe only info I can find on the web is from the aforementioned site. Oct-5-63. Host: Rory McEwen. Peter, Paul and Mary, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Long John Baldry and the Velvettes, Cyril Davies and the Rhythm and Blues All-Stars, Carolyn Hester, Sydney Carter, Alex McEwen.
U.K. TV show. Nov-9-63. Host: Rory McEwen. Peter, Paul and Mary, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Cyril Davies and the Rhythm and Blues All-Stars, Long John Baldry and the Velvettes, Alex McEwen, Sydney Carter, Carolyn Hester.
U.K. TV show. Dec-21-63. Host: Rory McEwen. Sonny Boy Williamson, Sydney Carter, The Ian Campbell Group, The Duo Ofarim, Alex McEwen.
U.K. TV show. 1963. Host: Rory McEwen. Sonny Boy Williamson, The Ian Campbell Group, The Duo Ofarim, Lisa Turner, Martin Carthy, Cyril Tawney. Can't seem to find any clips on You Tube of information elsewhere - can anyone elaborate ?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6GFIafGWo8Here's a clip! I think a good few episodes survive. Remarkable for a regional pop show on ITV in the 60's! The presenter was Jools Holland's father in law. Sadly he got very ill later in life. R.I.P.

One reason I like the early-sixties pop shows is because they show us what aspiring British Rock stars were watching after school!

I don't know why but i find it incredible that these survived probably because seeing so much that has gone i've only ever heard of the u.s series before it's really good news that these are safe.

Ah, Dink Schmink I know it through Bob Dylan's version Me too; and it's always seemed the silliest song title!

I would like to know who owns the rights to the show - I think it would make a great dvd release and would fill in one of the large gaps in the 1960s viaual music archive.
Perhaps one for Sky Art's as they have shown a lot of 50s/60s material such as Beat, Beat, Beat, UK Swings and Pop Gear

Nice idea,Jeff.Might be a bit of a wait.Apparently there were five 'Hullabaloos'.
I've just spotted "The Duo Ofarim' in your OP.That'd be Esther and Abie,I suppose.

I believe eleven episodes were shown in the Midlands (ABC Weekend) 11.15-11.40 Saturday evenings weekly from 19/10/63 to 4/1/64 (except no show on 28/12/63)
