Awful news. She was so young. I directed and produced two series with her and we became great friends during that time. I was so upset when she announced her cancer, but none of us thought she wouldn't beat it. It's doubly sad as she was hoping to have one last Christmas with Michael and her son. Here's a picture I took when we were filming in Herefordshire. Ever the pro, she was trying to get the words for her next link in her head. I will miss her. Paul flic.kr/p/psnDFP

Very sad news. I hoped that her wish to have one last Christmas with her family would happen but alas not.

I work in a large regional theatre and our venue twice played host to Lynda when she toured in the stage production of 'Calendar Girls'. I can honestly say she was one of the warmest and most sincere performers it was ever my good fortune to meet. A simply beautiful person. She always managed to spare time for fans at the stage door and had that rare gift of establishing an almost instant rapport with anyone she came into contact with. In short, a lovely lady.
- and a marvellous actress too!

Very sad indeed. I was shocked to hear that she died, because I saw her on BBC News recently looking really well. She was also still relatively young at 66.
