You don't mean to say anything vile said about Ian Levine was vindicated do you Steve? Perhaps you'd like to make that clear for everyone. Emotions are running unnecessarily high elsewhere and I prefer the tranquil idyls of this Forum for discussing matters ME related. ---------------------------------------------------------- No I do not think Steve is saying that, he is saying he was suspicious of the motives of the person saying vile things about IL and these suspicions now appear to have been vindicated. I'm sure that's the case - absolutely no criticism intended by me towards Steve. I had hoped to clear that up earlier but my posts keep going awry. Sorry about that Steve.

Thats fine Simon, you dont need to apologise. Unfortunately, as you know well enough yourself, the written word can get misinterprated in many ways and I have no bug bears with you at all. With the way things are going at the moment, with yet more twitter comments from PM this morning, and Ian responding, and I wish he wouldnt, I am more worried that the Tabloids are going to pick up on this bizarre behaviour of PMs and create some sensational story out of it, that just makes things worse. Im wondering if after all these years of this mad life Phil has had, that hes maybe he's exhausted and needs a holiday. Ironically, I actually agreed with many of his comments the other day about the current state of the programme, I just wish it hadnt been him that said it.

I missed a few episodes of Mind of Evil as a child as I recall! i think I was trying to grow out of it I shamefully must admit but I was back for Axos! I did deliberately leave after Pirate Planet part two which i thought and still do to some degree was terrible! i ended up being away from Who for six weeks and missed all of Stones of blood but I came back in for Tara and have stayed ever since despite the longing to switch off during the last four years most weeks!

People just get their hopes up far too soon. People might get a bit sick of hearing it but look at the Omni-rumour, people made all these claims that huge numbers of episodes would be released but in truth to really restore that number of episodes it would be 2016 before it was anywhere near finished (excluding duplicate episodes, extended restoration times, the Restoration Team having a life, etc.).
If there is more to come, we will hear about it in time, but don't assume they'll have a big announcement any time soon. If Phillip Morris (or anyone else) found even a reasonable sized hoard of episodes, this would be years worth of restoration work, not a couple of months as some seem to think.

If the rumours do prove to be true and some are missing episodes from incomplete stories already released on DVD (Tenth Planet,Reign of Terror) how will the BBC release these to us knowing how we will moan about the costs of re-buying yet again? Probably once Power,Evil,Fury and Macra are well on our shelves, Tenth will suddenly turn up with mega extra features!

The BBC does not hold a gun to anyone's head or threaten to immolate your teddy to make anyone buy a DVD. It's a choice. In fact, I'd wager they don't really care what is said on this forum to form policy. The voices here are vocal but a tiny minority. If they turn up I will rejoice and buy them because I can see stuff that's thought to be long gone and that, to me, is something I'd like to see.
BBC Worldwide is a company like every other is there to make a profit. It uses what material it has to make releases. When The Moonbase was released, for example, there was no other material to be had, so it uses what it has. There would have been uproar from fans if they hadn't released incomplete episodes on the off chance that more may turn up. It doesn't make business sense at all. There's an emerging market overseas who would lap them up. The domestic market would possible be small. And putting it in perspective Who is a niche market to begin with. If a season of Game of Thrones and a 1960's 4 part Who story was released at the same time. Which would sell more units!
So my question would be, if they released the Underwater Menace tomorrow, - with only 1 episode of 'new' material - would you go and buy it? Or would you be willing to wait with the possibility of the other two episodes turning up?

I know what you're getting at! Buy the UM DVD and yet four months later the whole thing could come out is like waiting eight months for a DVD to come down in price and find it becomes a collectors item and rockets up in price anyways! If* the BBC releases the shows incomplete with cartoon while it has the original episodes anyway is a bit of a snidey thing to do and the only reason they get away with it is because we're all so vampiric over our Who! If they have of course*!

Not my point at all. Way back in the midsts of time, 1983 or there abouts, I wanted to buy a new fangled home computer. All I could afford was a Vic20. 3.5k of memory. External tape drive for anything bigger. So I got it and enjoyed using it. But all my mum commented on was 'it will be out of date soon. You should wait.' She was correct of course. But had I waited for something better there would ahve been a possibility that I would have never bought a PC because something better might come along. Same with DVD's. If, for example, there was the possibility sometime in some years in the future that The Invasion episodes may be returned, would everyone rush out and buy the one that was released, just in case?
Apart from harming sales at the time, it would have probably scuppered the notion of animating the episodes that we have now as cost inneffective, so we would now have more unreleased episodes languishing about.
If the BBC are so determined to make a profit, Underwater Menace would have been out by now, possibly with animation. It could be, and I say could be as I don't know, that they maight have the rest back or have information that they may be available in the future. So maybe they're waiting. Who knows. Pun intended.

That's what I'm thinking! They have access to a number of episodes and UM could possibly be one of them and they're only awaiting a release of information to spring it on us! Just wish they'd hurry up a bit...

It's this lack of release of Crusade and Menace that keeps people talking. No one knows the truth

It's this lack of release of Crusade and Menace that keeps people talking. No one knows the truth I suppose whilst it is commercially viable to animate two episodes of The Moonbase as it has Cybermen in it, less people apart from die hard fans would be interested in buying The Crusade "a boring historical with no monster in it" (not in my opinion of course) and a poorly regarded story like The Underwater Menace. It would have made more sense to put the two episodes of The Underwater Menace on The Moonbase DVD.

I don't mind if they do a telesnap recon. of UNDERWATER MENACE for ep.1,4. I would have preferred animation.
