with regards to the nay-sayers, I recollect that there were several people not in favour of the change in forum style shortly after the mausoleum club started up - but that's gone from strength to strength & I suspect that users there would hate to go back to the original style.

I'm in favour of this style of forum in general and I think it'll grow on people.

Nice to be able to see a whole thread in one go without having to click on every single message. As you say, people take a while to adapt to a new way of doing things, but once they're used to it, they wouldn't think of going back. I can't really think of a single thing that the old board does better. Go for it, I say

Seems an all right forum. Just two things though.

Don't like the background colours for the messages.

Any chance of stopping the intro text at the top from appearing on the treads themselves, assuming the software allows you to do this. Its annoying having to scroll down to read a thread everytime.

Other than that its a thumbs up.

Hi Mark

The original layout on the Discserver forum was very neat and the same goes for the new DSL forum but the colourful mixed coloured display of the revamped forum layout compliments the postings, now split into 3 categories to cover everyone's tastes for Radio, Top of the Pops and General television discussions, with much quicker access to each topic in one click instead of up to several clicks under the same theme.

The additional features of Smilies, emboldened, italicised, underlined and coloured text and the Preview function are most invaluable and will come in very handy for emphasis and viewing topics before posting them.

The 'Preview' facility needs to be pressed twice to activate it, possibly a web site technical hitch or my software but all in all, the new forum is very good. I don't have the gift to compile web sites but for you and others who do, I have great admiration for you, and to David Buck for moderating the forum. You, Mark Leech, Mr Wolf, Neil Barker, David Brunt and several others have posted some fantastic topics on both the old and new forums to date. Keep up the good work!

This has often intrigued me - Apart from yourself, can you remember or do you have a record of the first ever poster to the original Missing-Episodes Forum?;
What was the topic he or she posted? and
Who is the longest running contributor who still uses the forum today?

I've just spotted that the Time Zone is American - When I posted my last message the clock stated that it was 8.50 am but on my computer clock it was 1.51 pm.

This isn't a problem, as everyone who comes online will know their local time but could GMT be considered as a replacement or addition to the existing American time?

Please ignore my previous comment about the Preview window. It's above the message edit section that I'm writing in and I just have to scroll up or down, depending on the position the page lands in to see the message in full. It will take a while for all of us to get used to all the various new aspects of the forum but there's plenty of choice, giving everyone plenty of scope to use as little or as many of the new facilities available as each person wishes.

I've read various messages from the 3 categories and find them a very interesting read.

I've been looking closely at the various tags which look very interesting. I'm not acquainted with all the functions yet but I will go through them and test them out over time to see how they all work.
