It may be just myself, but the way I read the headline is that: the BBC have confirmed that episodes will be missing from the iPlayer drop not that missing episodes will be included.
I would love to be proved wrong, but I expect plenty of gaps and no new material presented.

We know how Blue Peter borrowed episode 4 of the Daleks Master Plan in 1974, but never returned it. Is it possible that it could still be there in their archives? Could it also be possible that someone took it home without telling anyone? (I would have posted this on the other threads but they were locked before I could do so.) Having sat back and read the arguments and bickering with disdain, I just want to say: come on guys, we're a team here and we're better than that. A difference of opinion is welcomed and, in fact, encouraged as it forms healthy debate; but it's the personal attacks that bring the debate down. And that's when things escalate for the worse. By all means conjecture what episodes could be out there and where/whom may have them but respect the other person's point of view as well; play nice is all we ask, otherwise it may discourage new members from either posting to existing threads or starting a new one of their own. The reason I included the quote above was, that having read recent posts over the last few months, there seems to be a slight negativity or at least a dismissive attitude to this member and what they posted; and that's not fair. Looking at the profile, they joined 19/4/23. There are currently 98 pages with 17 threads each (sorry, 98 has 14) which means that there is 1163 threads to choose from and I haven't counted the number of pages per thread. Yes, the OP may be a 76y troll that has every ME stashed in their basement and is maniacally cackling as we speak but equally, this could be a 16y fan who has just discovered DW and whom wants to ask questions to gain knowledge without having to trawl through the above mentioned number of threads just to see if a question has been asked before. As the Doctor said: Be kind. Intermission over, you may now resume normal service.

The part about restoration hybrids confuses me, as does the completely Vidfired part - neither of those two scenarios are correct. As evidenced by posts in this thread I think quite a few people don't quite know what Vidfire is and how it's used, despite thinking they do. I'm not saying that I don't like the restoration, just that I find it off from my memory. Vidfire interpolate a mid frame that has been lost due to being recorded on film.

This may be a controversial topic and I'm prepared for the counter opinion. I know original episodes contained both video and film and that's how they would have looked to the original audience.
However I'm so used to seeing the 60s serials, on vhs, as copies of the film recording, I find it rather jarring when vidfire is applied to the non film scenes as it doesn't fit with my memory.
So, I'm wondering if you would all prefer the 'pure' 16mm copies, the restoration hybrids (as on dvd), or completely vidfired?

'The Celestial Toymaker' is my Hartnell choice to be animated. I think for the type of story that it is, a cartoon version would work perfectly. I agree with you as long as they don't embellish things like the Macra Terror animation did. Having the Macra as 9'(?) crabs works with the animation but it's jarring when compared to the live action.

Purely from a story standpoint, I do consider the Pertwee era to be complete even if not all the stories are in the original broadcast format. The amazing restoration and recovery work carried out by The Restoration Team have brought the episodes as close as possible to how they were on original broadcast and,I think, the best I'll see in my lifetime (unless they get Babelcolour to manually colourise IoD1). For myself, it's the best result we could hope for out of a, at one time, hopeless situation.

To answer the original question: Savages, Smugglers, Crusade and Toymaker. In that order.

I agree that it is looking less likely everyday that new MEs will come to light. But then everyone was thinking the same before EotW and TWoF came to light. Unfortunately we cannot prove a negative. So until every square foot of the surface of the earth has been searched, we will never know.

How much footage was actually shot for Shada before it was abandoned? If I remember correctly all the location filming and one studio day was completed.
