1963 series
18/09/63 "The Guinea Pigs" (see article/picture below)
25/09/63 "The Princess" Armed with a thirty-bob camera,a keen eye,and a non-legit stance outside Glasgow's poshest hotel,Francie 'n' Josie go into the photographic business. But instead get involved in shooting of a different kind- when a beautiful princess asks them for help from assassins
02/10/63 "The So'jers"...Francie and Josie wind up as very reluctant recruits to the parachute regiment "Men of Action" that's what the army advert says. And Francie 'n' Josie believe it. Especially when it refers to paratroopers. They believe it,that is,until they find themselves about to jump!
This is a review from The Stage magazine ...
A contemporary account of the episode The So'jers (Oct 2nd 1963): "The bad patch" episode... although the talented pair finished up in a troop carrying plane faced with the order to jump. the show itself never really got off the ground. It taxied around with a few old chesnuts, rose a few feet in the TAM air with pub and barrack room scenes that were clever but never humorous, but, like the final scene, the show came crashing down to earth... what went wrong? Jimmy Sutherland's direction was faultless. The fault, I'm afraid, lay in the script and with the producer who obviously tried to get too much into half an hour... Funny moments: Francie and Josie, in full para kit, tried to get through the MO's door together. Then they socially aware up and found themselves in the Army being greeted by the para sergeant (Clem Ashby). But missing was the sharp wit, the repartee, the slapstick routine we've come to expect of Scotland's greatest comedians. Sanny and Bert (Stewart Henry and Arthur Boland) alone stood out and gave real performances. Philip Ellesmere as the Commanding Officer was terribly miscast. His voice did not have the authority or fire necessary to carry off his role. Perhaps the part played by the paratroopers was the most rewarding. At least, in a cut to telecine, they jumped out before the episode came to an end and left us to sit and wait for Francie and Josie's inevitable crash landing in the CO's office.
09/10/63 "The Holiday" A fiver from Luigi plus their "bru" (that's the labour exchange for non-Glaswegians) money, and a 4-1 shot on the dugs...all add up to a luxury weekend for Francie and Josie at a top notch hotel. Much to the consternation of manager, head waiter and guests alike
16/10/63 "The Rivals" Francie and Josie "fell oot" when they fall for the same girl...a glamourous model called Felicity. Things get so bad they even decide that both should date her. Accepting,of course, that Felicity is willing.
23/10/63 "The Nightclub" Those likeable layabouts go into the entertainment business-guitars and all. Does'nt matter if they can't play them. They've got a gimmick-talent! Or so they think...see article/picture below...
30/10/63 "The Banditos" ...After a plate of Porridge and two Forfar bridies Francie dreams that Francie and Josie that notorious Mexican bandit, Pancho (Speedy) Gonzales, has kidnapped Rose, the daughter of the Governor of Texas and our two heroes speed to her rescue.
06/11/63 "The Stamp Collectors" ... (Francie and Josie become stamp collectors with 2 stamps short on their National Insurance cards the two chums find they have to WORK they are hired as garden tool salesmen in a big department store, and their first customer is the store's manager's wife!
13/11/63 "The Housewarming" Auntie Jessie moves out. And Josie moves in. This, he claims, is an event to be celebrated...with a house warming party, but no hot peas and totty crisps for them. They mean to do it a la latest women's magazine.
20/11/63"The Matchmakers" It's the "Lonely Hearts Club" for Luigi. And those irrepressible "bird fanciers" Francie and Josie get him all spruced up to meet his blind date. But whenever they lend a hand, trouble inevitably follows
27/11/63 Unfortunately I do not have any details for this episode yet.
11/12/63 "The Glesca Gallants" a clout on the head - and Josie is transported back to days of old when knights were bold. And when he, Sir Josie of Sauchiehall, and Sir Francie de Gorbals - two Glesca Gallants fought two "Sassenach Sody-heids" for the fair hands of two comely bits of stuff!

The Glasgow newspaper "The Evening Times" on the 30/12/63 mentioned (Rikki Fulton will star in what would have been a "Francie and Josie" adventure - if Francie (Jack Milroy) had been able to appear. The "Odd Job" (below) was originally arranged to be one of the recent series, but Jack Milroy was unwell so his part was re-written for Glen Michael.
31/12/63 "The Odd Job" Unbelieveable. But it's true. Josie goes job hunting with Francie's Cockney cousin. They land up in a deserted Scottish island with the strange and sinister Dr Yes their employer. Dr Yes has perfected Robots to take over the work of human beings. What has he in store for them? Here's a recollection from forum member Jim Doyle...(and then finding the robots were going to be used to do everyone's work which alarmed them because as Francie said 'That means they would cut our buroo money'. They then sabotaged the robots circuits so that they spoke in broad Glasgow accents and were disobedient. When Dr Yes orders one of the female robots to kill Francie, she says 'Away ye go ya silly lookin' big scunner'.
