I don't know if anyone else as commented on these programmes but on the whole a bit tawdry a "celebration" by their own channel. Plenty of clips of music and music related clips rarely seen but so many cut short or chopped about rock n roll years style, The Dara fronted panel game was an utter embarrassment and boring with it.

The Pop Goes BBC2 programme was a bit of a let down
Many clips were over familiar considering recoveries from the last few years that could have been shown (although always good to see)
and an over reliance on the Jools Holland show

The whole 50th anniversary has been very anti-climatic. Half a century should have been marked in a better way than it was. The "Happy Birthday BBC-2" series (which is merely a re-edit of the 40th anniversary programme) was pointless without a new perspective and fresh material.
The pop compilation was neither one thing nor the other; neither a proper documentary (as it didn't utilise a narrative to guide you through the music history) nor a proper performance compilation (being truncated snippets, mostly incomplete). What was the point of that?!? The usual assortment of lazily researched material too. Especially so, when you consider the interesting rare footage from (e.g.) Disco 2 and Once More With Felix that just sits on a shelf unseen and generally unknown!

The whole 50th anniversary has been very anti-climatic. I have plans, which have been in the pipeline since way back last year, to make a hopefully far more pleasing attempt at marking BBC 2's 50th birthday very soon
