Just wondering, I’m from the USA. How much interest is there in our classic TV in the UK? Dick Van Dyke, Andy Griffith, The Honeymooners, The Man from Uncle, The Invaders, Batman, The Green Hornet, Ed Sullivan, Carol Burnett, just to name a variety.

Certainly Batman & The Man From Uncle managed to be repeated in the 1990s, but before multi channel TV became the norm, & imports started to be rare near peak hours on the main channels.

Oh, I don't know Richard. I am pretty sure I remember watching twilight zone, the outer limits, lost in space, land of the giants, The monkees, banana splits, and an absolute heap of other similar shows in the 80s. I am still a big fan of the ones I mentioned *additionally I am a big fan of the Krofft brothers' shows. I regard them as classic in their own right, but that may not be accepted wisdom.

I was just picking out a couple from the ones Jeff mentioned.
In the 1980s BBC2 always seemed to have an older American show on at 6pm.
Mission: Impossible, M*A*S*H* & Star Trek are ones I remember.
Even in the 1990s the original Battlestar Galatica & Buck Rogers were in that slow, along with Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the Star Trek sequels, Malcolm In The Middle, & The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.

I forgot to mention good old Trek there! There have been quite a few classic American sitcoms screened as well, including bewitched and I dream of Jeannie. I can't be an isolated example, so in answer to the original question, I would think a fair old bit of interest

Memories of more obscure US show's such as
Drama's The Paper chase Mannix Harry O
Comedies Paper Moon (circa 72) The classic odd couple (Jack Klugman & Tony Randell) Rhoda, My mother the car,
Three series I would love to see again but seem to have vanished Mel Brook's short lived "When days were rotten"(circa 75) "Garison's Gorilla's" and "Bearcats" with Rod Taylor

Bilko was a much loved perennial on BBC TV until a few years ago when the rights expired (the BBC had bought 50 year rights)
The following AFAIK never made it across the pond.
Andy Griffith Leave it to Beaver (only a local station screening) Carol Burnett Ed Sullivan The Honeymooners Dark Shadows
and remain virtually unknown in the UK
Apart from those almost everything else did and forgotten shows like Car 54 where are you,Highway Patrol,Wild Bill Hickok.Johnny Staccato, The Mod Squad, Mr Ed, Thriller with Boris, have been repeated. Of the mystery movie series only Columbo gets regular repeats now. The well remembered shows such as,Batman, The Invaders, The fugitive, Time Tunnel,Starsky & Hutch,Streets of San Francisco, Cagney and Lacey, Kojak,Bewitched, The Munsters,Addams Family,Mission Impossible,Twilight Zone, Outer Limits etc do tend to get a repeat showing every few years.
Shows that are not repeated -but we would probably like to see again in the UK include
The Name of the Game. Land of the Giants Arnie Run for your Life those spooky old 1970s TV movies etc etc

The Honeymooners was shown on BBC2 many years ago. They had a sort of running US comedy slot that consisted of Bilko, The Honeymooners and The Jack Benny Show rotating around. I hope that the Bilko release is a success as I'd like to see more of the other two series. Dark Shadows was shown twice in the early day of the Sci-Fi Channel. (158 3 hour VHS tapes to record the lot!)

Channel 4 tried showing The Tonight Show in it's early days, but it didn't catch on, though Johnny Carson is fairly well known.

Channel 4 showed quite a few in their early days.
I remember most of the Irwin Allen shows, along with the likes of The Munsters.
After the film came out BBC2 started showing The Addams Family.
