Superb stuff, Phil - thanks for putting this up. Now wouldn't it be great if the BBC could put together a "TOTP 1970" collection of these newly discovered clips (Juicy Lucy, Mungo Jerry, King Crimson, Black Sabbath etc).. I know it's unlikely but hope springs eternal (allegedly).

Very useful, thanks. I'm glad my track listing for yesterday's show matches yours. It looks from the ARD schedules I quoted above like your two undated 1972 editions are the two up-coming ones from 1971:
"1972-xx-xx aus Erbach" is 1971-06-27
"1972-xx-xx aus Lauterbach" is 1971-12-03
Edit: and...
"1973-xx-xx Seeheim" is 1973-06-24

So there may be a colour copy of "Everybody get together" - my favourite Dc5 "live" performance in existence ? No because that episode was broadcast in black and white which begs the question, would the BBC have sent them a colour insert and if so would ARD TV have kept it? There are more questions than answers.

'Mr President' by D, B, M & T. In the wider scheme of things, such an under-rated song.
In the way that some later hits by The Tremeloes, Herman's Hermits and Dave Clark Five can be overlooked. Retrospectively they stand up very well.

There is definitely a feint colour signal on the HaGG insert, though much of the finale is lost as HaGG did a decent job of merging the clip with their own studio audience So there may be a colour copy of "Everybody get together" - my favourite Dc5 "live" performance in existence ? I was looking at Gerhart's blog that he linked to earlier and in particular the episode dates. I think this little run covers all the episodes with TOTP content (marked with an asterisk) listed in the blog. There are screenshots from all these shows in the blog.
1969-10-08 Wed 1969-11-12 Wed* 1969-12-10 Wed* 1970-02-11 Wed 1970-03-11 Wed* 1970-04-08 Wed 1970-05-06 Wed* 1970-06-17 Wed 1970-09-13 Sun* 1970-11-29 Sun* 1970-12-16 Wed 1971-01-17 Sun* 1971-03-03 Wed 1971-03-31 Wed 1971-04-28 Wed
So, that looks very much like a classic early seventies European monthly pop show. The summer gap between June and September need not indicate anything missing. But at the end of 1970-09-13 Graham Bonney refers to the next episode coming from Hamburg, which some episodes did, but not 1970-11-29.
So does anyone know if there was an October 1970 episode from Hamburg? And was there a January 1970 episode?
Disco started on the rival ZDF in February 1971, and it doesn't look like there are TOTP clips in Hits À Gogo episodes from that point onwards.

I'll just flag this one up, as it appears to be 1970-02-11. Maybe they didn't want to start this run with a b&w episode, or maybe it's the start of a few more early episodes from somewhere other than the hr region.

Well: 1) the cited songwriter is the same (Willie Alexander) 2) Lets Stick Together is actually the original lyric en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let's_Stick_Together_(song)

It's Canned Heat Dave I know it's Canned Heat; you know it's Canned Heat; the ARD website doesn't know it's Canned Heat. But who am I to correct them?

I don't think it was a blatant rip off i think Bryan just done his version of the song in his way under the original title.

Actually, NOT Willie Alexander. Wilbert Harrison wrote and recorded the original song in the early 60s. A great track--in all its versions, IMHO.
