Odd they didn't start the series from the beginning, 1968. They didn't show the Marbles 'Only One Woman' which was shot in colour, nor David Bowie 'Space Oddity' or Canned Heat 'going up the Country', both which were shot in black and white. Nevertheless good entertainment though and well done to the Germans for not wiping the shows.

Yes, absolutely! Does the series exist right from the beginning though or are any missing?

Poking around a bit it looks like the archive isn't complete.
This week's episode was presented by Englishman Graham Bonney, who apparently also worked on early episodes of Lift Off.

Quite right, and he also had a big hit in Germany with 'Supergirl' during 1966 to which a good Beat Club performance exists. Always found it odd why Hits a Gogo launched in colour in 1968 then went to black and white during 1969 and 1970 then back to colour. Not complaining though, the quality of the footage is very good, there's loads of it on those Dutch BR Music DVDs. link

Poking around a bit it looks like the archive isn't complete. Yes, that's the impression I got too. Some very early ones are possibly missing (which would have been the most interesting for me personally). Still, a much more complete pop archive than any that the UK TV of the time managed!

If you can still find them (I got mine from Amazon.de) there are three volumes, each with 8 DVDs, of the entire run of shows from 1965 - 1972, excluding only a couple of shows of compilations. All superb quality, and all presented by the delectable Uschi Nerke.

Yes. I got those Beat Club sets as well. Excellent stuff and in pristine quality VT (and not anything like the smeary versions of some of the footage which often gets used in clip shows or compilations - at one time I believed these inferior copies were all that existed as we never got to see the full quality versions as are on these sets)!

I can't believe how far back this thread had drifted...
As the run has ended, I thought it might be useful to post the track listings here for the episodes that were shown. The titles here are from my own research so nothing is guaranteed - and one or two (particularly in episode 10) remain unidentified, by me at least. (To be honest I can't stand Peter Maffay...)
I think all but the two TOTP clips are in the Hits A Gogo studio. Some are live, some have live vocals, some are mimed. I suspect they're pretty much all on YouTube.
EDIT: Updated to include further episodes. The intention remains to keep this as a list of what has been shown specifically on Einsfestival from 2013 onwards.

*This episode was first shown on Einsfestival on 2014-11-01, and the ARD website indicated that the show came from NDR (who did indeed make the episode) and had an original broadcast date of 1974-05-19. For the second showing - in a run of shows sourced from HR, the broadcast date above was given. It seems odd that the episode would be shown almost a year earlier by HR when it was made by NDR. The set listing looks more 1973 than 1974 though. And there is a 1973 Korner & Thorup LP Live On Tour In Germany.

Thanks for the info Frank - I could probably have got the others but I don't think I stood a chance with that New Trolls track...
There have been a few posts here recently linking to YouTube clips taken from these Einsfestival broadcasts and asking where they're from. So I figured it might be useful to list here specifically what has been broadcast recently. Although they weren't quite complete, I knew my listings covered most of the songs that most of the people here were likely to be interested in - and I didn't want to just take someone else's work. The link is useful though, thanks.
To ask nicadare's question differently: do you know why Einsfestival showed only the episodes they did - and why they didn't show any of the other episodes in that list?

I'm a bit of a 'newbie' here but am amazed to find 'like-minded' people who are interested in vintage/lost pop/rock music clips. I love the 60's and early 70's pop in particular and would love to see the 'Hits A GoGo' programme - is it available anywhere in the uk? In peace & friendship :-)
