Mr Cartmell sent me an angry message to my Facebook saying "YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO INSINUATE THAT I AM IMPERSONATING YOU, HOW MANY RAYS ARE THERE IN THE UK?" and promptly deactivated his Facebook account.

Does he ask for rare The Who/Stones footage? If yes, you can be sure it's well known a...le in trading circles. To me he was Leo, to others he was David etc. etc. You can be sure in only one aspect - he don't have anything that he offer. His strategy - claiming that he and only he have this uncirculated/missing footage and then he started asking you what rare stuff you have. He will send countless messages to your e-mail, about 100 a day or more, if you start communicating with him. He also try to sold me some Jefferson Airplane/Stones/Eric Burdon's footage which he stole from someone etc.etc. Beware and tell him to go to hell.

I don't think too much of the PVL is circulated, Chris. Since your post I have been making enquiries on the trading circuit and from what I can make out no one knows any more than I do. This is what is in circulation:
A number of mostly b/w clips from 1974 have been in circulation for several years. I'm not at home so don't have a complete list to hand, but the only thing close to completion is 31/01/74 in colour minus intro and DJ links. From memory the other clips were from February, April and September, and some were better circulated than others, I know most people don't have the alternate "Rock Around the Clock" for example.
A couple of years ago the Rare TV Archive website was setup offering wiped material, these were being sold on a chronological basis. These shows are in circulation having been sold on ioffer by Craig Cartmell:
22/06/73 complete in b/w except for Slade which has been edited in from a different show.
20/09/73, a few clips in b/w. PVL have more of this than has been let out, I got a list a couple of years back as to what exactly is in the PVL, not just lists of dates, and I definitely remember "Angel Fingers" by Wizzard being on the list, but it's not on the DVD. This is where the Youtube "Ballroom Blitz" clip originated.
04/10/73, the 500th, a few clips in b/w, about 20 minutes in total.
The clip of Abba's "So Long" that appeared on Youtube is in circulation in DVD quality, this is believed to originate from the Abba fan club.
A bootleg T Rex DVD included "Teenage Dream" and is in very limited circulation.
A heavily watermarked version of Gary Glitter's "Doing Alright With The Boys" appeared on Youtube, this has been converted to DVD and is in circulation. The clean copy is rumoured to be in extremely limited circulation in GG collecting circles, it certainly isn't available in TOTP circles.
Several existing shows from 1977 onwards are readily available on the circuit, I was told years ago that all PVL shows from 1978 onwards are complete but those I have seen are mostly incomplete.
My antivirus software started blocking the RTA website around this time but from what I can gather no further PVL shows have been offered. I have heard talk of offers being refused so my guess is that the owners of the collection have gone back to wanting to sell it as a single collection.
I'm fairly confident that if any further PVL material was in circulation then I would know about it. I have expressed enough interest in this collection over the years and have enough contacts that I'm sure someone would have told me.

The gent mentioned here has indeed seemed to deactivated his Facebook account, he asked last night by Facebook message if I could asked the moderators to erase the Facebook link - which I have no problem doing AT ALL - but it seems to have gone anyway!

From memory the other clips were from February, April and September, and some were better circulated than others, I know most people don't have the alternate "Rock Around the Clock" for example. I know this is an old thread, but are you certain that two Bill Haley and his Comets TOTP performances exists? I'm fairly sure they only appeared the once, on 28th February 1974, and that the 28th March 1974 and 11th April 1974 broadcasts were repeats. Incidentally, a Haley fanatic gave me details of The Comets line-up on TOTP. It's in my TOTP book, but for those who don't have it here they are: Rudy Pompilli (saxophone) Nick Nastos (guitar) Ray Parsons (guitar) Ray Cawley (bass) Freddy Moore (drums) (I recognised Rudy and possibly Nick/Ray Parsons, but was unaware of the others)

Has anyone had a message from a Deirdre Langton asking about Ray and some episodes of Coronation Street ?
