What a magnificent platform the 50th Anniversary celebrations could have been for launching an appeal for the return of missing episodes

Newspapers are in decline How hard is it to just question everyone when they go to get their drivers licence renewed? Or put a check box on the Income Tax form: I declare that I have NO Doctor Who episodes on 16mm film.

Here in the U.S., we already know who has the episodes. We've been copying every single e-mail, phone call, etc., for years. So that we can all be safe forever and ever. Hang on, someone Dalek-y is pounding on the door. I'm sure my Constitutional rights will be respected. Back in a tick. ....

Well I know that ABC in Australia destroyed a lot of film prints in the 70s. I suppose a couple of those prints might have gone walkies. I think Celestial Toymaker 4 is part of that batch. Maybe some of the others are part of it as well?

I've said on this MB that the prints need examining for evidence of censor cuts which would be fairly definitive, one way or another, regarding an Australian origin. If that could be ruled out we then start ROCKing....

Absolutely. I have a suspicion several things have been previously mis-identified. However I think the censor cuts may have been misleading.
A forensic examination may be needed. CSI - Cardiff style. Microscopic traces of tomato sauce and beer could perhaps link reels with Australia ;-)

Am I right in saying that when Enemy and Web returned "the powers that be" weren't sure how much interest there'd be in them? Richard I would be surprised if that were the case. These things sell in the supermarkets and the higher ups are probably aware of that! I think I picked up Invasion in Sainsburys early on a Saturday morning. I think it was a good seller..... maybe someone else could provide a link to sales figures. The higher ups will be very aware of what generates income for their company and Who is a known and popular brand.

From what I've been told - if you find beer and tobacco stains covering the film - yep 1970s ABC . If you find caviar and champagne - Kerry Packer - ch9. Which is a joke for our aussie readers. I could probably include a BBC joke involving Jimmy Saville but I fear it may be censored.
