Yes. But Alan was implying perhaps some "missing tracks" too. I don't think it would be a bad idea, at some point in the future. I would hope they would at least keep the primary 'making of' features, and a few other important ones.
I wonder what the cost differential is between bluray and DVD discs for an equivalent SD run time. Given that a dual layer bluray holds ~50gb, and a DVD holds ~8gb, is it cheaper to press one bluray disc than 6 DVDs?

Missing tracks would of course be excellent!!
In terms of cost, from my recollection of such a breakdown on CD's, the cost of the actual disc is a very small % of the overall cost - just look at the cost of blank discs - and so although there clearly would be a cost benefit of 1 disc vs 6 discs, it would not be as big as might be expected

I was in fact thinking that it might still be more expensive to press one blu-ray as opposed to 6 DVDs. Packaging would be cheaper at least.

I can't imagine that they'd want to go down the one Blu-ray path (i.e. a season in SD on one disc), as it'd seriously damage DVD sales. How could they possibly ask for an RRP for one BD that didn't make the equivalent 6 DVDs look horrendously overpriced? I think the approach they'd probably take would be to upscale the episodes to HD and put all the existing extras on in SD, maybe with some exclusive new HD content. You could no doubt fit everything for one story on one disc, so a season set would be 6 BDs for six stories.
Besides, the forthcoming new series release will be upscaled, so it's unlikely they'd go one way for the new and another for the classic series.

It would, hypothetically, be after the DVD range was completed and being phased out. (note, that is not such an abstract thought in the US, where they've already retired 20 titles)

Sorry to bump this thread but I recently bought Spearhead From Space on Blu Ray & wanted to comment on it.
I was really impressed by the transfer, the exterior scenes especially looked really clear.
It will replace my "Complete & Unedited" VHS copy, which in spite of the name felt it had been trimmed, as the BR seemed to have a few extra or longer scenes I didn't remember, or it's just my memory.
The only problem I had was the lack of info text & commentry track.
