So what is the deal with Web 3? Not there? Damaged beyond use?

A truly stunning find. A huge thank you to Philip, Paul, Mark and Peter for their amazing work on these episodes.
Several years ago, I wrote in DWM's The Complete Second Doctor about how impressed I'd always been with 'The Web of Fear' - from first seeing Episode 1 at Interface II in the early 1980s, to listening to the soundtrack, to seeing the surviving censor clips.
And now, I've just watched the Battle of Covent Garden from Episode 4. A stunning piece of direction from Douglas Camfield. I find it difficult to take in that I'm actually watching it for real.

Paul, can you tell us when they were found? I'm guessing they've been around for a few months...? Sorry if it's been mentioned somewhere before. I'm doing a shocking job of missing details in these stories. As has been said, I'm sure you're relieved this is all out in the open.

Thanks everyone involved in recovering and restoring these classic episodes. It's so wonderful to have more stuff from Season 5. But I'd also like to give out a huge thank you to the people who made and starred in these two stories all those years ago. It's truly remarkable we can see them today. Plus I must thank that Archive in Nigeria for NOT throwing these episodes out and holding onto them for all this time. Thank you so much it all means so much to me and all Doctor Who fans. I could hug each and everyone of you at the moment because Doctor Who is the greatest TV series of all time, and it's rare moments like this that I feel part of a truly lovely community.

As a long-time lurker, recent-ish member and occasional poster, I just wanted to add my thanks to the chorus of gratitude here. It really is astonishing to think these episodes were still out there to be found after all this time. I look forward to hearing the story behind the recovery almost as much as I'm looking forward to watching the stories

I always knew Salamander pinned the Doctor against the Tardis console... What I DIDN'T know was that he brutally punched the Doctor in the gut first! There is indeed more to these missing episodes that we realize. An absolutely wonderful find... To think that it's not just 1 more episode, but all 6? Someone said this before, but it applies to me too; I genuinely think I'm going to wake up in a minute!

Hey Paul.. how good does it feel to actually be able to talk about this? Quite good actually. It has been a nightmare, particularly when people posted that a friend of a friend had seen clips, when we knew it was impossible. About episode three; no, not amongst them I'm afraid. Obviously our greatest disappointment regarding the find, but 9 is better that none! People have been saying that it has been found but is damaged, or is being held back, or whatever. That's not true, sadly. For news about the when's and where's, you'll have to read the DWM article! Paul

I do hope Part 3 of 'The Web of Fear' gets animated. I felt the animation worked really well on parts 2 and 3 of 'The Ice Warriors'. When can we expect an announcement on the DVD release of 'The Web of Fear' and in what form part 3 will be represented.

Awesome work from all those involved. As the Doctor would say, the human race can be truly amazing - passion to continue a search across decades and continents for something that just gives so many people pleasure. How can that not be amazing? Downloading now as I am sure many of us are...

Fantastic news! Thank you, Phil!
It's a great pity that New Zealand has been left out of the 'loop' in terms of it being available on iTunes.

Thanks for all this - I'm drinking my "celebration ales" while my iTunes DL slowly goes forward - much happier than having to drown my sorrows!

Wonderful news - I can only echo the huge debt of gratitude we owe to Philip and Paul for making this find possible. I remember a time when only four episodes from season 5 were known to exist. We now have over half of it. Mind blowing.

Fantastic news! Thank you, Phil! It's a great pity that New Zealand has been left out of the 'loop' in terms of it being available on iTunes. Any Kiwis thought to give Apple a call, find out the poop on that? Feel bad for you guys, truly! But it won't be much longer, surely!
