I haven't looked at them for a while but, from memory, they're the two t/rs which exist at the BBC (there's also a colour VT episode existing, which doesn't seem to have been as widely seen though). I think one is the first episode. Not sure of the other.

Yes, most of the times (but just not always) this sort of thing is a collector uploading the videos he traded or downloaded. This guy for example has clearly uploaded all the Spike stuff he had. Even so it's good of you to check. There just might be something they did not realize is missing (audio tracks for example from TV shows).

If it's episodes 3 and 1 then the second is missing. If however the comment's wrong then it's episodes 2 & 3. Or maybe the episodes were transmitted out of order?
My brain hurts now.

He also posted it's funnier than Monty Python. According to stuff I once downloaded it's episodes 1 and 5, although what appears to be 5 is also called 1 and wikipedia says it's in fact number 3 but mislabeled. Judging from lostshows they must be episode 2 and 3, while 4 is the only episode that survives in colour (but is not on youtube). However let's not forget this site's own list (there is more to it than just a forum), which says it's is 1 and 3. At least it's better than Q1 to 4, of which no trace remains at all!

IIRC an insane sketch show, so yes sort of I guess but with Spikes own kind of magic.

Well, considering that the Pythons thought that Spike had beat them to the punch with Q5, it's obvious they were working along similar lines.

That was a question? Well, the short answer is: Yes. Long answer: Well, they're on youtube, see what you make of it for yourself.

If you need me, I'll be under the table, whimpering quietly... Is that because of the lost episodes, the confusion, or my terrible joke?

Well there are 2 b/w episodes and 1 colour, it's just a tad unclear which order they originally came in. And the colour episode doesn't seem to be around. It can be viewed at the BFI however. Based on lostshows, bfi and motion picture gallery I conclude that this is what exists: #2 1969/03/31 b/w #3 1969/04/07 b/w #4 1969/04/14 colour
(You want complicated, try At last the 1948 show. If I hadn't had help I would have never figured out what came from which episode originally. Or the silent "Phantom of the opera" film: The original cut exists only on 16mm, then there was a rerelease with added sound track, in a different version. The latter survives as a silent copy and no-one knows why that print was made.)

I assume the reference to Q1-4 not existing was a joke. Spike said in 1969 that he called the show Q5 as there was a great deal of publicity about the new Cunard liner codenamed the Q4 (later revealed to be the Queen Elizabeth 2). This still exists as well as the Queen Mary, Q3 was never built and the original Queen Elizabeth was destroyed by fire in Hong Kong harbour.
