Thank you for the compliment. For re-creating purposes the script quoted here is as close as my memory allows to be accurate. The visuals I think began with Hartnell dressed as the Dr talking directly to camera Close up with slow zoom out to head and shoulders. I don't recall the background but think it was neutral, possibly dark.:- Thanks for this John. Using your script, edit markers and visual memory I've recreated how this trailer may have looked as accurately as I can. Sadly no visuals exist for WH's piece to camera so I've had to recreate it using some facial animation and the voice work of John Guilor. I've tried to keep the cuts as you described, and even included the camera direction. The only liberty I've taken from your account is replaced the 'neutral, possibly dark' background with a shot of Totter's Lane. You said at the end that the BBC announcers voice came in over a still of Hartnell as the Doctor. I've used a publicity photo for this still. I hope you like it, www.youtube.com/watch?v=95W2XCRe6Vo&feature=player_embedded&noredirect=1Bloody good job. Do you mind if I put that link on my site so people can see what it might've looked like?

Richard, Riachard, Richard........Have you been inside my head? Have you walked through my memories? For thoase of you never to have seen this trailer I can assure you that this re-creation is more than awesome It is totally stunning. Itis very close to what I can see in my memory cells. Something about the opening is not quite right but the rest is superbly accurate. The voice sounds a shade hard and I think Hartnell was turned at a slight angle (his right side was slighty facing the camera?) But hell - I may be wrong. This was 50 years ago but this definitely deserves to Platinum award and should be included on the DVD if not,in the actual programme of Adventures in Time and Space. I take my hat off to you, Sir.

Very very impressive sir. The voice artist is exceptional!
One small gripe though, the caption of Hartnell at the end. I think it's from Marco Polo?. Would that have been in rehearsal at the time and would they have used a picture from it? I may be mistaken on that. Really really sorry to split hairs on this.

Gotto hand it to you, Richard... None of us saw this coming!
I think they need to find room for this on a future DVD... Hehe

My thought too Adam ... and if that's the only criticism we've got, it's not much. Martin

Thank you John! Very, very kind of you to say! All I wanted to do was stick to your memories (and script) as accurately as possible in order to recreate this best I can. I'm no animator so the bringing Hartnell back was a tad tricky. I used the shot from 'The War Games' and replaced the background! Through in some facial animation and tried to mimic the camera pan you described. Really glad it's accurate to your memories! And thanks everybody for the kind words, it means an awful lot. If you so please do subscribe to me on youtube: itsfarfrombeingallover or follow me on twitter: @farfromallover Thanks for the critiques too! I knew it was a 'Marco' still, but I couldn't find one from the opening episode that I felt looked 'publicity' enough. So I had to make do and mend! Big thanks to John Guilor. The audio is so important in these things and he really captures Hartnell so wonderfully. A real professional.

Richard, I was truly amazed out how quickly and accurately you were able to vusualise my distant memories of the trailer. I expect like me you'd like it to be 100% perfect. As I have posted on this thread my recollections have clarified further... Start on Hartnell's face - eyes, nose forehead. His eyes blink and twinkle - hold for a brief moment. As he speaks pull back on Hartnell to where you have him in the current reconstruction except he is turned at roughly 45 degrees to the camera tosee his right hand side. Just before you go to the opening title sequence he waves his left hand to gesture at the seen behind him . It's as if he's indicating the adventures are through the scrap yard doors. The rest is spot on - even to Ian and Barbara appearing behind Susan. As some one else has pointed out the still shot at the end isn't right - the picture was a different early publicity shor as used in that week's Radio Tomes of Hartnell will his hat on and scarf. I hope that helps. But what you have done so far is amazing. P.s. By the way, my friends and family are always astonished at what I can remember and the details. Proof that it is fairly accurate I still have my notes made at the time of Dr. Who from episode 1. The early versions were merely a few lines to remember what had happened but much laterin the late sixties I wrote down a detailed account of an Unearthly Child - I was not able to really check how accurate I was until the episode was repeated as part of the Five Faces of Doctor Who. And of course later episodes I was able to verify as videos were released. I was 9 at the time - why the hell did I make notes? ? What is it about those early Doctor Who's that leaves such clear memories? Why am I still watching a 50 year old programme??? Why can I now not remember what I did yesterday!!!
