Sorry, trying again with a readable title. Does anyone know if the BBC Radio 4 play about Howard Carter's famous excavation in the 20s from c.1972 exists and if so if it is available? Had a recording of it until I taped over it in the late 70s. Would really like to hear it again if it still exists.
Thanks for coming back on this, much appreciated. It could be, the 70s one was broadcast in 1972(?) to coincide with the Exhibition at the British Museum. My father recorded it on reel to reel for me and I taped over it in the late 70s. My gut feeling is that it was made in the 70s as from memory the production values and special effects, ethereal voices chanting etc was more 70s than 60s but can't be 100% sure it wasn't a repeat of the 60s broadcast.

I did a quick search in The Time Digital Archive and it came up with loads of results for Tutankhamun in 1972. "The Treasures of Tutankhamun" exhibition at the British Museum ran from March 30th-December 31st 1972 so there were loads of programmes related to Tutankhamun around this time. BBC2 broadcast a 13-part documentary series entitled "Tutankhamun's Egypt" that was on every Sunday from April 2nd through to June 25th. Of more interest to you, though, will be the following listing for BBC Radio 4, Tuesday, 15th August 1972:
The title of the play at 8.15pm is very similar to the one broadcast on the BBC Home Service, 4pm, New Year's Eve 1962:
So we still don't know whether it was the same one!
