I don't see the point in engaging in such an exercise at the moment as the BUFVC (the British University Film and Video Council) are currently surveying universities and colleges about their off-air recordings. Once the exercise is complete, there should be a central database that can be checked and compared with known holdings.

Hi Ken,
I've looked at that catalogue lots, and made little headway in finding anything.
I agree that once that is complete, that would be a good way to go.
But in addition, there are many educational establishments that won't fall under their remit.
Their database will encompass Universities, and presumably the vast majority of Further and Higher Educational Establishments. But other schools, pre16+, and also those in the private sector....they may have things; assuredly, not so many, but the recent acquistitions from the Border Region came from an Academy, which, those familiar with the Scottish educational system will know is not an establishment likely to feature on the database, being the equivalent of a secondary school.
So, I agree with you Ken, there are bigger priorities, and also the finished database will be best, but I will keep my eyes and ears open for anything.

I can see that the BUFVC tack is less amateurish than my suggestion, but it might be worth pursuing, nonetheless.Interesting that they're doing this proper archive listing in the second decade of the 21st century. Not hasty at all!
