I suddenly thought of this programme the other day , i remember watching it when it was originally shown back in 1968 and found this vinyl audio of 6 stories on youtube. Just hearing the theme tune brings back memories of this children's programme , unfortunately all episodes are missing but does anyone else here remember it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFxRWwq_GgQ

I was out of the country in 1968 but you've jogged my memory about another leprechaun on TV.
I seem to recall through various camera trickery, Rolf Harris having conversations with a leprechaun. Possibly from around 1965/1966
Does anyone else remember this?

BBC 1 TV “Hey Presto, It’s Rolf!”-Paul & Barry Ryan (30th according to an earlier thread here almost nothing survives from this show either.

Returning to Sean The Leprechaun, the series was an independent production produced by a number of individuals associated with Ulster TV. It was produced by Colin Leckey-Thompson and narrated by local TV host Charles Witherspoon. There were 13 episodes and all were shot in colour.
The fate of the episodes is unknown - Leckey-Thompson owned the production company behind the series and nobody has chased him or his descendents up to find out whether he retained copies. It wasn't archived by Ulster TV because it was a bought-in series. This is unfortunate as it must be the earliest Northern Irish independent production effort by a mile.
We do have a good idea of the basic format of the series though from the vinyl records but also from the sole surviving episode of For The Very Young, a UTV series from 1960-4, which featured the same characters. It was shown at a Kaleidoscope event last year IIRC.

I thought it was repeated in the late 1960s ITV; as I recall an older boy nicknaming someone that at our primary school. That would be Autumn 1968-69.
