I'm pleased to announce that the edition of A Whole Scene Going from 16/3/66 and as recently seen on this forum has now been officially recovered. It's been a bit of a journey and passions ran high on this one due to the Dr Who content. Thanks to some of the good members of this forum who were helpful in one way or another, be it in funding or being one of the bidders who took the news that the seller had decided to terminate his listing so graciously. There were a few not so nice people too, but hey, that's life. You can see some online clips and read the story of the recovery at www.timdisneyarchive.com/telecine/2012/06/a-whole-unseen-and-unseemly-scene-going-on/The best news of all is that Chris has managed to clear the theatrical rights with the BBC, and I understand that we have the blessing of the Dr Who Restoration team, so the whole programme will get a screening at this weekend's Kaleidoscope Lift Off! event in Stourbridge. See you there

Tim, I greatly appreciate what you've done.
I appreciate the auction being pulled for the right reasons and the print finding a safe home where all can now enjoy it.
Owning the print is not as important as all having access to a hq version which I hope transpires. As you did a great thing with the st marks, this also is a great move. Hopefully he was reasonable with the price to you.

Brilliant news!
Having said that, I'm sorry the seller/owner had to endure abuse from a bunch of fanatics.

Wonderful news about the recovery, Tim! So glad we can see it at Kal next week too. Thanks to all concerned for this one. The recovery story proves (sadly, of course) that there are many hoarders out there who often bar the recovery of missing television. But it's a nice retrieval from a series that has few existing editions, with excellent pop footage contained within it.

It was an interesting topical show for it's time, probably the first time the BBC attempted making a magazine show specifically aimed at teenagers and young adults that took popular culture seriously, placing it under a microscope, daring to push the envelopes as witnessed by the infamous Pete Townshend grilling about drugs and the way the panel laid into Sandie Shaw the following week over her remark that she trusted nobody in the film report. Wonderful to see those bits and pieces - love the Spencer Davis Group running down the road - pure 60's! Whatever happened to Wendy Varnals?
It's great we now have 4 editions... just 20 years ago there was only the first 2 episodes in the archive since the final show was recovered during the early to mid 90's.

Whatever happened to Wendy Varnals? I believe that she lives in America now and is an artist. I looked her up some time ago. She had a website somewhere. If I kind find a link, I'll post it. ------------- edit: This is the video I found a while back. I'm pretty sure it's her, but I could be wrong. vimeo.com/17237271

I understand that we have the blessing of the Dr Who Restoration team I'm baffled as to why you would need or indeed want our blessing? It's nothing to do with us and the content has nothing to do with BBC Doctor Who...

Chris said that although he had received BBC clearance, he'd run it past you first as a courtesy in case you had any plans to do anything with the interview footage, so I assumed that as Chris had given me the go-ahead to announce the screening that he must have already run it past you, hence the inclusion of 'I understand.'

Now officially slotted in at Kal's event tomorrow at the following time:
"4:45pm (MAIN STAGE) A Whole Scene Going - a previously missing edition of the youth culture magazine show from March 1966 which has just been recovered from a private collection by Kaleidoscope and The Tim Disney Archive. For Doctor Who fans there's a fascinating behind the scenes glimpse into the making of feature film Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D., starring Peter Cushing. In the studio, classic British beat band The Spencer Davis Group are interviewed and also perform their number one hit "Somebody Help Me Now". American singer/songwriter Judy Collins also features in the programme (TX: ??/03/1966)".

Having Just watched the film trims behind the scenes on Dr. Who & The Daleks (on the death to the daleks dvd) I hope a copy of the Gordon Flemyng interview is on it's way to Jason Flemyng as he'd clearly love to see more of his Dad on film
