Has there been any conformation that copies of these things are actually in the bfi, and not just accidentally on the database? That process has just started. Here's hoping

As mentioned before, treat what the BFI says it has with caution.
As usual with bureaucratic institutions, listing the paperwork seems to be more important than checking the real stuff ie. the actual tape or film?

Has there been any conformation that copies of these things are actually in the bfi, and not just accidentally on the database? That's the crucial point really, before we go dreaming off any further! We've all long been frustrated by the material the BFI listed on it's database not actually existing (well, seemingly so, anyway) but until we can get a reliable source to check these "finds", it can't really proceed. I really hope it's all verifiable..!

I really hope it's all verifiable..! I agree, I think for me the mention of the Out of the Unknown material "Little black bag" made me think that some of the listings are not the pyshical material. The episode in question has been known to exist (not complete) for a good few years. That's not to say, a complete episode turned up afterwards ;D. I just hope a few of us are not disappointed a little further down the line, it would be fantastic if half of these were actual recoveries.

When an entry is displayed as the result of a search, clicking the Expand record> link gives more information than clicking the episode title. In some cases this also gives information on "Archive Format". E.g.
Old Country[13/02/83] 1983 BFI Archive format 'C' FORMAT; VHS CASSETTE Original format Television Synopsis Production company Limehouse Productions; Lacewing Productions Duration 30 min
I'm assuming that gives some indication that the material does actually exist otherwise what would it mean?

Hence my word " some" . But let's just take a breath to get confirmation, please don't get me down as a doomsayer, it would be great if it turned out positive. As mentioned, we have been here before (and probably will again).

Little Women 1950
I am guessing this is an error due to the year but I will post just in case. The search is listing 'A Merry Christmas' as existing. The other five episodes are not listed.
