Lawrence I find the Sanctuary situation intriguing, simply because it was one of the last major serials to be screened by AR and it begs the question where on earth did all the VTRs go? as there was no time left for anybody to be bothered to wipe them for other AR programmes as AR was shutting down that month and presumbly everything was in the can for those final months anyway?
Also I understand there was 'sort of' a two year rule where VTRs were kept for two years (which was in the actor's contract) because of the potential of further sales and repeats. After which (of course we know here) the VTR was left to fate and whatever way the wind was blowing.
I suppose you can understand the BFI being reluctant to take Videotapes in 1968 as they probably could not afford a £60,000 machine to play them on anyway? and had to wait to get donated an old banger machine from the TV studios?

John Green posted this information in a different thread. I thought it more usefull here as it regards stuff at the BFI.
The BFI have a couple of maybe-missing episodes of 'What the Papers Say': 2/11/1971 (Lost Shows has it as 3/11/71) and 3/8/1978 (dates agree).

Little Big Time has been checked, nothing held.
Sanctuary - Only that single ep held by NFA, they have fixed their error there.
BBC do have those Harry Secombe shows and film inserts for Stranger on the Hills that was queried.

Someone asked about Once More with Felix, BBC's answer is very good and surprised me.
09/12/67 incomplete VT
16/12/67 incomplete VT – Spike Milligan one as shown at recent Kal.
20/01/68 b/w telerecording – missing Robert Morley but otherwise complete
17/02/68 b/w telerecording – complete (Donovan, Jim Dale)
09/03/68 b/w telerecording – about 20 minutes (inc all guests)
16/03/68 b/w telerecording – about 27 minutes (one item cut but both Brooke Benton & Ronnie Corbett items present)
23/03/68 incomplete VT – on same tape as 16/12/67
18/01/69 complete VT?
01/02/69 Kinks clip from Bob Pratt tapes (as seen at Kal.)
None of this has turned up recently, the telerecordings turned up about 2004 from Belgium.

There's also the Leonard Cohen appearance on colour VT, Chris (presuming this isn't included in your list as it was - I think - recorded late '67 and transmitted early '68). 23/3/68: is this the Incredible String Band appearance? If not, that's another to add to the list.
A pleasing amount of this series in existence though (the first music show to be shown in colour on British TV, no less). Belgium 2004? Just goes to show we don't know what's out there. I wish some of Colour Me Pop would turn up in the same way!

I wonder if it's time to lock this thread? It started in the wonderful days when we realised that the BFI had finally cataloged dozens of shows they'd held for years, but now that there's a thread for all online archive turnups, this one seems redundant.I know I'm one of several people who've been listing non-BFI 'finds' here.

Well, BFI material is still being reported back on (albeit a lot less often than before) and so the thread is still serving a purpose for now. It also provides a useful reference pinned to the top, for people to refer back on what has been confirmed / dismissed archivally.

I think what John might be getting at - and I agree - is that we've got too many threads pinned to the top of the board. I have to scroll down the page, and even then I get in a muddle about what is new and what isn't. Any chance we could see a reduction?

Hi Laurence
What leonard Cohen apperance? On what show? I agree this thread confuses me, separate threads for each query would help me lol.

I think it can be confusing; I queried the Julie Felixs in the Online archives thread, and it was answered in BFI 'Finds'.I suppose I should have raised it under music shows!
