Yes...thats me folks! Thought I would try a pro active approach. Just trying to make any kind contact or get a lead.I placed several adverts in a few countries back in Feb. Most of the sites specify that you have to put in a price you are prepared to pay.So I plucked a figure but really wanted some kind of reply with a lead. I have not had any replies or enquiries at all. But most of the advert sites send me a weekly report....that only tells me how many times the adverts have been viewed unfortunately. Of course I will keep everyone posted if I hear anything. I am sure I am not the only one who has ever tried this but for me personally I felt I needed to give it a go.

The same reason I've started putting feelers out in Sierra Leone.. you never know. The trick I find is to mention 16mm film but never, ever, mention Dr Who! Out of interest, John, what other countries have you tried?

Here in the U.S., and being in Vermont one of the least populated states, I've thought about putting out a classified advertisement in my local paper for "1960's 16mm BBC film" ... I know that being in the states it's a HUGE long shot, but in the end it really doesn't hurt to at least try.
Anyone here think it's a bit silly? I don't really expect anything to come of it, I just want to say "hey at least I tried, that makes me a dedicated Whovian".

@mark - The chances of a film collector in the US knowing that his/her films are "1960s BBC" is pretty slim - most people aren't that aware of who made shows... And if you advertise for film in general, you'll need to be prepared (if you get any response at all) for unindexed collections of prints that could be anything - educationals, features, etc... But - if you get any response, let me know - I live in Mass. and I buy collections as a business.
And the chances of there being any missing (or even non-missing) Dr. Who is slim to none...

Richard....I have placed ads in classifieds in Hong Kong,Singapore,Barbados,Trinadad&Tobago,Bermuda, Jamaica, and Zimbabwe. Just stretching my own personal search! No replies yet tho....unfortunately. It might be a case of trying different classifieds or keeping the ads going. I am under no illusions about finding anything at all....but have to try something!
