I think that the reason that the recoveries were kept under wraps was not only to stop the event from being swamped by fans, but just simply so that, for those at the BFI event, it was a nice surprise! I'm not sure if it was fully booked, but announcing it beforehand would have provoked madness both for bookings and also on online forums such as this one. If they hadn't wanted to keep it a secret then I'm sure the BBC would have announced the recoveries a few months before they did, but they chose to reward those dedicated enough to make it to the Missing Believed Wiped event (not to indicate that anyone who couldn't make it isn't dedicated!) with a well-deserved surprise. That is one reason. I also think they wanted time to follow up on any new leads Mr. Burnett could give them before an announcement was made. Trying to follow up leads is difficult enough. A ton of extra press about missing episodes could cause potential leads to disappear because some people might not want that kind of media attention. Exactly right. Mr Burnett returned The Underwater Menace 2 a while after he had already returned Airlock, so I guess the expectation was he "could" be able to find more, so time was graciously allowed for that to happen. A long shot granted, but heck, why not?

Anyone know how much of Galaxy 4 ep3 is missing with the censor cuts through it? AIUI, there are no censor cuts (only part 4 was edited that way). But the last 27 or so seconds plus closing titles is missing. (I wonder if this was due to the ABC looking at slicing together parts three and four for a double-up that didn't happen...) What's missing in those last 27 seconds?

Oh,I'd so like to say "The controversial nude scene,deleted on the grounds of taste". Actually,a couple of reaction shots,and the closing credits,I believe.

It's just Steven trapped in the airlock I believe.

To clarify, the final 27 seconds of Galaxy 4 contain;
'...companion Steven (Peter Purves) suffocating in the eponymous air lock. “We’re missing 27 seconds of action completely, as well as the closing credits,” says Paul. “It’s a few shots and one line of dialogue from Maaga. But luckily we have the soundtrack and by using other visual material within the episode, we can re-create it.”'
That's a quote taken straight from Paul's interview with the Radio Times, if you were wondering.

In the recon the credits start at 9:00, so the missing action should start at 8:33 if the radiotimes is to be believed.

I am guessing the Camera Script exist for this episode? The audio exists. I know THAT! But you need more than an audio to recreate the missing footage.

Latest DWM - 2 Entertain confirmed that neither will be released in 2012 but they are on the schedule. Implication is that both will be released separately, not self-contained, but within another release.

Probably to be released as part of the huge lost episodes bonanza that they are holding back on for the anniversary year!! (I am going to be so disappointed by the end of that year ;D)
