Sorry if you have spoke about this but did anyone see the lulu documentary on saturday, there was a clip of Lulu singing Boom bang a bang and it looked very much like a Top of the pops clip.

There's also a colour clip of Lulu singing the song on the Eurovision contest - could this be the clip referred to? It does exist although a b/w t/r copy is the version that gets seen more often.

This is an excerpt from the very first "disco" show, originally aired on ZDF on 13th February, 1971. Lulu's appearance was probably taken from TOTP 14th January, 1971. Unfortunately, the whole clip is just about 2 mins long. disco Nr. 1 13.02.1971 Shocking Blue - Shocking you (Studio) Andy Kim - Be my baby (Studio) Creedence Clearwater Revival - Lookin' out my backdoor (Promo) Dana - Who put the lights out? (Studio) Kinks - Apeman (TOTP 03.12.1970) Lulu - You've got to believe in love (TOTP 14.01.1971) Dave Edmunds - I hear you knocking (Studio) Christie - San Bernadino (Studio) Petula Clark - The song of my life (TOTP 21.01.1971) Alfie Khan - She's coming back (Studio) They don't make 'em like that any more....

I noted if you look at the 'Boom bang a bang' different clip you can see double edging. It probably is Maurice gibbs home tape of TOTP. Pity they whizzed through it as it is a newly retrieved performance.
Sure the fans liked the doc and it's about time we had one but I was disappointed it wasn't in the usual BBC4 style. It seemed padded with too many clips of 'To sir with love' when we could have seen more of the Lulu interview about it.
There were also too many talking heads when we could have had longer archive clips. I can only guess kylie was there to turn younger audience members onto Lulu as a PR exercise. Theres no comparsion personality and voice wise and even in terms of being an archival expert.
They seemed to edit a B+W T/R of a 70sLulu show in with 'Lulus back in town' and wondered what it was; the presenter seemed to talk right over those bits. Pity.
Also Lulu looked very natural at the end but interim they always seem to light her harshly overhead and it's very unflattering. Her voice is better than many in their 20s still.

I am led to believe she sung it twice on the eurovision song contest, as there are a black and white video, and color video on youtube, and both have different live audio, and her body movements are ever so slightly different on the black and white one. Both are from Eurovision 1969, as she is in the same place in the same dress.

Hmm, once in the main part of the contest, and once as winner, maybe?

Hmm, once in the main part of the contest, and once as winner, maybe? Could be. I swear that they are different, but are from the same contest and show.
