The Weaver's Answer clip exists in full, Ray. As with a lot of the Bob Pratt material, it wasn't catalogued properly and seemed to just be lying around on anonymous reels away from the normal archive. It didn't used to have normal catalogue numbers either, making some of the Pratt stuff hard to find unless you knew where to look. There are some other interesting colour TOTP performances from this time that are waiting to be recognised properly as well.
Unfortunately that seemed to still be the case not so long ago. I have no idea though if ALL the Pratt material is now catalogued in full and indexed the same as normal archive material. My guess is not though! As there isn't an infinite amount of it, it makes you wonder how much effort it would take to log it all in properly (especially as there is unique and valuable stuff there!) but I guess it's the usual indifferent attitude to pop TV that they seem to have, which is why performances such as The Kinks on Julie Felix get overlooked in compilations!

Here's a list of TOTP featuring Family's Top 20 hits: 27/8/70 WIPED The Weavers Answer (40) 10/9/70 WIPED The Weavers Answer (22) 24/9/70 WIPED The Weavers Answer (14) 1/7/71 EXISTS In My Own Time (NEW) 22/7/71 WIPED In My Own Time (30) 5/8/71 WIPED In My Own Time (11) 5/10/72 WIPED Burlesque (30) 19/10/72 WIPED Burlesque (19) (danced to by Pan's People) 2/11/72 WIPED Burlesque (14) (crowd dancing and charts) 9/11/72 WIPED Burlesque (13) Only one episode still exists. And here's a screengrab of their first TOTP appearance taken from the clip that Ray mentioned: Interestingly, Roger Chapman wore the same tee-shirt when he appeared at the Isle of Wight festival the following day (28/08/70): www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdGTXcRyiKI

Glad the Pratt stuff is finally catalogued now. Hope it's also on the proper database too! Most of those clips you linked to are Bob's but - to muddy the water - not all of them! The Tremeloes, Sandie Shaw, Dusty and Family clips all exist complete as does a lot of the audience / Pan's People material. The Blue Mink (Good Morning Freedom), Joe Dolan clips I can't account for (as they are also in this sequence, is the impication that they also exist complete? If they do, I've never seen them). There's some TOTP '69 material (rehearsals mainly but the Clodagh clip with full studio audience and DJ intros seem to be from the actual show). Not sure if this came from Bob or a similar source though, same as with the Sugar Sugar camera rehearsal. Some of the other material in compilation 2 (such as the TOTP promo for Bridge Over Troubled Water) is from Bob. The b/w DJ links for TOTP '67 are from a t/r of a trailer that exists in the archives. As always with these compilations, they throw up more questions than they answer!

This final "special edition" of Pop Quiz was the last to be aired by the BBC featuring Mike Read. I've numbered it as S04E15 as it uses the same studio set as the earlier episodes, even though there was a 9 year gap in between: S04E15 - TOTP 30th Anniversary SpecialRound 210cc - Rubber Bullets (TOTP, 1973) Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar (TOTP, 1973) Golden Earring - Radar Love (TOTP, 1973) The Smiths - This Charming Man (TOTP, 1983) The Cure - Love Cats (TOTP, 1983) Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (TOTP, 1983) Round 5Shalamar - There It Is (TOTP, 1982) Teardrop Explodes - Reward (TOTP, 1982) Amen Corner - Bend Me, Shape Me (TOTP, 1968) Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart (TOTP, 1983) Genesis - Turn It On Again (TOTP, 1982) Level 42 - Something About You (TOTP, 1985) End CreditsDave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Titch - Zabadak (TOTP, 1967) As you can see, being a TOTP special, ALL the clips were sourced from archive editions of TOTP. The "newest" clip used in this episode was 9 years old! The Jean Genie and Jackson 5 clips we're searching for would also only have been about 8 or 9 years old when they aired on Pop Quiz in '81 or '82! So far, we've managed to confirm all of the clips used from 20 of the original 47 shows. There are 11 shows that we know about one or more of the clips featured, leaving 16 episodes for which no info is known about any of the clips! The show that's bugging me the most is S01E05 which features a team captain referred to as simply "xx" Then again, not much had changed 13 years later as even this 1994 episode has a very sparse description in the BBC archive database. It even omits the names of five of the guests! Here's the info stored about this final "special" complete with spelling mistakes and original punctuation: I particularly like the way they added a question mark at the end! ;D When the show returned for a new series a few months later it has a shiny new set and a new presenter. I've tracked down copies of all the 1994 episodes and will list the clips featured in that series very soon...

Great stuff, davec. Further info on any other shows would be most appreciated - even the ones that have been officially catalogued, as it's always nice to confirm they're correct and complete.

The Fleetwood Mac Albatross clip listed is not TOTP (which is junked, of course) but Julie Felix.

Oh and the guest on Series 3 Episode 7 is Brian Robertson not Brian James Well done on spotting that mistake! I originally copied the guest info from imdb which is not only incomplete but also incorrect in places: www.imdb.com/title/tt0808990/They've confused him with Brian James, the Damned guitarist, who was born Brian Robertson. In fact, it's actually Brian 'Robbo' Robertson, the Thin Lizzy guitarist: I've since updated most of the guest names using the BBC info where available. Still stuck on S01E05, though...

I have had some very interesting news back from the BBC. From the TOTP compilation, Blue Mink's Good Morning Freedom - 12/03/70? - does not seem to exist in the archive at the BBC, and despite the accepted colour existence of Joe Dolan's You're Such a Good Looking Woman from 26/03/70, they have not got that either. They do actually have the promo for Kenny Rogers' Something's Burning at the BBC - presumably an insert, I guess. Which leads me to suspect this compilation reel was not sourced from the BBC. (would the Dolan or Blue Mink count as finds? ;-) )

Yes, it's the ONLY clip of Albatross in colour there is too! The TOTP performance of it would have been b/w anyway, being a few months earlier than the Felix appearance.
