William Hartnell did Desert Island Discs on Mon 23 Aug 1965 It appears that no recording exists of this, or at least a copy hasnt come to light yet. I would love to here this Is there a record of what his choices were?

The transcript of his Desert Island Discs appearance was included in the DWM Summer Special 1994.

No copy is currently known to exist, but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that it was taped as we known that some audio recordists did save editions of the programme.

The list of Hartnell's choices is just part of an article based on the transcript called 'Into the Veil of the Unknown' in the special mentioned above.
As far as I'm aware, the BBC hold full transcripts.

Really great to see that an interview of William Hartnell now exists.
He had a kind of mystery surrounding him I felt.
With this interview it seems that some layers of mystery have been peeled back.
He is certaintly my favourite classic Doctor. Forget Tom Baker and David Tennant. He was the definate article.
