Can't find anything under the title "The Gift" but on the date you gibve there was a Sunday Night Theatre presentation called "The Prize", made in B&W and it exists as a 16mm telerecording.

So sorry, you're absolutely right - it is The Prize; that's exactly the play. Thanks very much for the info (I hadn't thought it was made in black and white, though! Curious for 1971 peak time.)

It could have been made at the time of the 1970/71 colour strike and sat on the shelf for six months...

Was "The Prize" a 30 minute drama? Or longer? I have a 16mm print of something with this title which runs about 30 minutes and I wonder if it's the same thing or something entirely different....

I thought it was a 60 minute play. Is yours complete?

Good question -- I'll have to watch it and see what it is...

Please do! The ATV one stars John Moulder Brown, and, as said, perhaps has a Sunday Night Theatre umbrella title.

Without projecting it, look on the reel markings if it is about 2000ft then you have a 1 hour version.

David: Nope -- this is something else - I watched a few minutes of it, it seems to be a film production (not a telerecording) about a kid who wins a baby goat at a carnival. I have no idea what it is or where it is from. The accents sound British - although they might also be Australian...
