I thought I'd let people know that I've set up a website which is on the lookout for old tapes. Before anybody throws their hands up in horror and thinks I'm trying to compete with this one, I must make it clear that its target audience are what I believe are deemed the "non-anarok" category - by definition, the opposite of "us" - I hate the term but for want of a better phrase I have to stick with it... The idea is that people who aren't really interested in this sort of thing themselves, but might know of old tapes that they might have, will visit the site and think that if they've got old tapes (or obsolete VCRs) that are of no use to them, which they wouldn't miss if they were to pass them on, then they know of a place where they could send them to a good home. It aims to educate those who think that ALL TV is safely stored away in a big vault with everything sorted by date and time, into which any part can be delved, and illustrate the reality of the position. Anyway, if anyone here is interested in seeing it, it's at : mbvs.moonfruit.com. I think people here might be interested in going to "Sites of Interest" and checking out "PALSite" - if you haven't already! There's a huge online community of Betamax and Philips VCR owners on there.

would this include pre cassette recorders those dating back to 1964 from before 1972? that is video tape recorders VTRs. I seem to be having some trouble reading your site so if this question is answered there, apologies in advance.

I take it your PC is barred from downloading the Macromedia Flash Plug-in - it won't work if this is inhibited. Here's a direct link to the site - yes, open-reel VTRs do get a mention, and if you go to the links page you'll find another site called Total Rewind that goes into more detail about those. Some direct links here: www.palsite.co.ukwww.hypernova.co.uk/total_rewind/

ah good, Yes I know about Total Rewind and have been in intermittent contact with Andy Hain for a couple of years, he did say he had some video tapes but I don't know what of. I have aslo contacted most of the other video collectors on the web but none of them have any tapes. There are some I never got a reply from so I can't say about them one name given to me by LabGuy aka Richard N. Diehl of a man in Australia never replied and Richard thought that he may have something. anyway good hunting , they are out there
