Just wondered if this music programme has ever come to anyone's attention at all? It's from ORF TV,which i think is Austrian, and has quite a line-up of music acts. One show includes a 1975 video promo of Black or White by Steve Harley/Cockney Rebel which in over 30 years has never been broadcast. It's certainly new to me and i thought i'd seen all their 1970's stuff! Anyway, here's the link. www.truckgeier.de/popscope.htm

Hi Barry
Most of the clips from this show are the original promo clips for the performances from the 1970’s. Some are common and seen often in the years since on all sorts of shows world-wide and on DVD's, but many have rarely been screened since. The show must have been rescreened on cable TV in the 90’s and beyond in Austria as various clips have surfaced with the Orf TV logo present.

That's right Brett.I guess a lot of the promos have been seen many times since but as with the Steve Harley one there's probably a few long lost gems hidden away there!

It would be very interesting to see exactly what promos were shown, and if any copies of the programme exist in full. I am curious as to what the 'Back in the USSR' video would be, and also I have never seen the Costafine Town video.
What also may be interesting is that Australia - and I am fully aware we are talking about Austria here (!) - used a BBC TOTP appearance as a 'promo film' (David Cassidy, from the 500th TOTP), and I've always been curious as to whether any other nations would have followed suit.
Even so, some rather rare promos must have been broadcast here, and if these exist it's great news in itself.

Yep, interesting stuff. I suspect a few TOTP clips may have been used on that show. By the way, the title of the Bilbo Baggins track from Popscope 6 is 'Back Home'.

Ray - The Beatles - Back In The USSR video - It's a collection of 60's archive made into a video used to promote the former bands re release of a number of singles in 1976.
Splinter "Costafinetown" is the original previously missing 1974 promo film.
On the subject of promo films I have also found from another source .....
The Spectrum (1967 Capt Scarlet Theme Band) "Portabello Road" - in colour.
I agree that many "missing TOTPS promo's" have been shown in Australia in recent years which include such cuts as Kevin Ayres (Ex Soft Machine) "Carribean Moon" from May 1973.
Back to Go Go Scope - the most interesting clip is Georgie Fame's January 1968 "Bonnie & Clyde". George is filmed in front of a black painted board in gangster outfit complete with 1920's machine gun. To his right there's a crowd dancing in a studio behind which is ...... a large above stage mounted back projection screen showing psychedellic moving shapes of the type used on TOTPS at the time! I see that GF did indeed appear on TOTPS in January 1968 performing that song which at the least is coincidental so this is a "possible missing 1968 TOTPS clip" Some very effective stroboscopic filming effects were used which time to the gun fire at the end of the track - quite a find!

Keith, Just noticed that you list 'Love Affair-Everlasting Love'. Do you have any details about this? . Is it the group performing or just some visuals?. If this still exists it's probably the only footage of this track.

Unlike the Georgie Fame film insert The Love Affair appear twice in one edition of the show. "Everlasting Love" is a lip synched complete Austrian TV studio appearance. The quality is mint with no logo.
The second Love Affair track is a song playing whilst the band wander through a snow covered Austrian forest - I will need to cross reference the second song title.

This show is an impressive discovery! Clips of Everlasting Love and others make this a real rarity. I wish someone would release it - i'd buy in a flash!

The issue as always in releasing anything would be obtaining the permission of all the relevant copyright holders.
I can't help but think though that a forum such as this might one day be a launching pad for a consortium to take air time on a shared access digital Astra satellite platform with a view to screening unique world wide classic pop TV archive material.
Stranger things have happened in the past!
Lol -In the meantime I am happy to upload a few stills to this site if someone can explian how to add a jpeg to my post?
