Nothing like a good lawsuit to find "missing episodes". From 2000....
LOS ANGELES (Zap2It.com) - In good news for both Milton Berle and television history, NBC discovered nearly all of the filmed recordings, or kinescopes, of the comedian’s early TV shows in the network’s Burbank storage facility, according to Reuters. Berle filed a $30 million lawsuit against NBC in May, charging the network with giving away or losing kinescopes of 128 episodes in violation of an agreement giving Berle and NBC co-ownership and mutual control of the reels.
"Everything they thought was missing we have, apparently, everything but four of the kinescopes," an NBC spokeswoman said. "We’ve made all of that available to their attorneys, and our assumption is that they’re going to drop the lawsuit."
Many of the films were misplaced or mislabeled when Berle’s representatives and network officials found them. The suit has yet to be dropped, but Berle attorney Paul Sigelman said, "We are on a very friendly and cordial basis with (NBC) because everybody wants to see Mr. Berle properly taken care of."
