the theme tune was by pentangle called 'light flight', i have it on vinyl though they changed the lyrics for the theme.

I think some eps must survive, I seem to recall a mid 80s repeat prior to the sequel series Take Three Women. I have the Pentangle theme on a 60s TV Theme Cd...

As the 'lostshows' site linked here seems to no longer exist; can anyone tell me what exists of these series?
As I understand it there were two initial series both with Liza Goddard (as Victoria), and then the one sequel a decade later titled Take Three Women. It would be smashing to have a Take Three Girls 1 & 2 set alongside the series 2 & 3 of The Liver Birds that was made available. I have been able at least to see the first two episodes via youtube and there are a smattering of others there. This at least seems a BBC DVD release possibility... if there could be Adam Adamant and A For Andromeda put out even with gaps...

The programme's Wikipedia page gives 6 episodes surviving from series 1 and 6 lost (as opposed to 4 and 8 listed by TV Brain). Specifically, it says episode 9, 12/01/1970, and episode 11, 26/01/1970, exist though listed missing by TV Brain. Is it right?

It's disappointing there're that many lost, but then there seem to be no series one Liver Birds so better than nothing. If the third episode focusing on introducing Victoria is gone (as wikipedia says) that'd be pretty serious in making sense of the program. The first one introduces Kate, and the second Avril, and then there are intros for two new flatmates in series two (one also missing according to wiki), with either of those two missing those are big gaps.

I remember one episode that included musician Robert Wyatt who was playing the part of a drummer in an avant-garde jazz group! I wonder if that episode still exists?

That's Series 2 Episode 3, 'Jenny: Closed Circuit', and it is lost I'm afraid. It's a bit odd that according to TV Brain all 8 'Victoria' episodes are lost. If the 16 lost and 8 extant were completely random there would be about a 1 in 57 chance of that happening. If Wikipedia is right, one of them survives.

It was BBC1's first colour drama series. The characters - cello-playing Victoria, single mother Kate and Cockney art student Avril - were played by Liza Goddard, Susan Jameson and Angela Down. The theme music - 'Light Flight' by the British folk rock group Pentangle - was a British chart hit.
