Do the bbc still hold all the episodes from this classic series from 1971 and are they all in 625 line or was it all on film. I was only 4yrs old so my memory is scant on this . Was it ever repeated, I know it was shown in many other countries and repeated all over the world. Why cant thee bbc show it again if they have it? Can anyone help me on this one? Cheers Leighton

Sorry - was aiting for someone else to reply, 'cos I'm lazy!
All 7 eps of THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS , (17-1-71 to 7-3-71), still exist on tape. It was repeated as 6x60m (22-7-72 to 26-8-72).
HAWKEYE, THE PATHFINDER turned up as 5x55m from 18-11-73.
Doesn't the Peter Grimwade MYTH MAKERS tape use behind the scenes 8mm footage from MOHICANS?

Has anyone even seen it since it was originally shown?
I've always wanted to see it, especially as it features a number of my favourite actors (Philip Madoc and John Abineri, for example).

I know this sounds like I'm sadly plugging my own publications, but the next issue of The Compendium will feature The Last of the Mohicans and R.3, as well as a few Cartier plays too.
I'm hoping that it will be ready in a few weeks...

Would you let us know when it is ready? By the way, can anyone on this board supply me with a copy on video of this lovely series. Surely one of you archive chaps could help out here

I was at the Time convention in Birmingham this weekend and had a long chat with Philip Madoc as my dad went to the same school as him, and lived 4 roads away from his house. I learnt quite a bit about Last ofthe Mohicans Can we not bombard bbc entreprises and get this out on dvd/vhs as it is such a wonderful production by all accounts. By the way, I was the one asking all the cheeky qustions

Ah, so your dad's a Merthyr boy then... not too far from me!
Madoc was very helpful and informative and provided some excellent material in the half-hour interview we scammed with him. We will also be contacting Mohicans director David Maloney separately and all of this will be compiled into the Mohicans article (which will probably see the light of day in September sometime).
