As far as the possibility of 60's groups reuniting with all their original members, I can only think of a handful. The likelihood of most of the coming back together is remote: The Walker Brothers-I'm sure John and Gary would do it. No chance of Scott though. The Monkees-Nesmith won't even talk about them anymore. Status Quo-Doubt if Alan Lancaster wouldn't be welcome. The Kinks-possible but wouldn't hold my breath. Fleetwood Mac The Hollies-Allan Clarke has retired. Cream-Ginger and Jack don't get on. Crosby, Stills and Nash-The best hope I think. I stand corrected. Intriguing list of bands there. Only surefire chance in that lot is Crosby Stills and Nash who have been working on and off in various permutations since 1969 anyway. The Kinks is a possibility if Dave Davies pulls his finger out. Fleetwood Mac... can't see that happening - doubt Jeremy Spencer would do it and Danny Kirwan... where is he? Quo and The Monkees... no chance. Same for The Hollies... not only has Allan Clarke retired but they remain on bad terms with bassist Eric Haydock who they took legal action against a few years ago for using The Hollies name to publicise gigs with his band. Just looking at a lengthy list of bands from the 60's makes depressing reading since one or two members have since passed on. This is the rest I could find where all the members are still alive... Manfred Mann - Manfred doesn't want to know Cliff and The Shadows - Touring later this year for one final time The Spencer Davis Group - They're all still alive but the Winwood's wouldn't do it Deep Purple - No chance! Procol Harum - No chance! And that's about it.

Surely Cliff and the Shadows farewell can't be included as a re-union because Tony Meehan passed away and the Shadows doesn't include Jet Harris. I read in the Mirror a couple weeks ago that there was possible Kinks reunion this year if Dave Davies has recovered properly from his stroke. I for one would like to see Peter Green perform under than banner with a Fleetwood Mac that included McVie and Fleetwood.

The Shadows could reform with Marvin-Welch-Bennett-Harris as a genuine line-up as they existed briefly that way for a couple of singles, if I remember correctly. I must remember to see them this year if it does happen as it'll probably be the last time. I'd like to see Jet in there with them. I'd definitely go and see the original Kinks if they finally did it again too. I saw them several times in the '70s but Dalton had replaced Quaife in the line-up by then.
From what's said of Mike Nesmith above, i'm really glad I saw the full four-man line-up of The Monkees when they toured here in 1997! One of the best gigs i've ever been to!

The Cliff and The Shadows gigs are definitely happening. Details are on Cliff's website... about 8 dates in all. They're playing in my home city of Liverpool but the final gig of the tour is in Manchester and I'm still trying to decide which one of the two to see. It's celebrating their 50th anniversary and is said to be their "final" tour. Amusing in a way considering how many "finals" and "farewells" The Shadows have done. They did their "final" tour in 2005, then reformed for Marty Wilde's tour in 2007 and here they come again, back with Cliff! It would be great and appropriate if they have Jet Harris involved, even if just as a guest on a couple of numbers. I saw The Kinks in 1993 - superb gig though clearly evident that Ray and Dave were at the end of their tether with each other. If the reunion does manage to come together, then I will most certainly be going to cheer them on.

Procul Drummer B.J Wilson died in the early 90s, I'm afraid- not technically their original drummer, but their classic and definitive drummer.

I stand corrected again... hadn't heard of Wilson's passing... so that's Procol Harum off the list... not that you'll ever see Gary Brooker and Matthew Fisher together again on stage.

Yes, they're the clips I was referring to. The 19-10-67 performance is definitely very different to the 26-12-67 one. Been a while since I last saw it but I think it was on a similar set to the one we've all seen but different angles and everything. The tinting was rather strange and I suspect added on by the producers of the video it appeared on who were no strangers to applying various video trickery to clips they used. I think I've seen this performance at some point, going by your description. I seem to recall the Alan Price Set's Don't Stop the Carnival also has a tinted appearance, although whether that's worn tape or not, who knows. Also, I'm sure that I've heard two different qualities of the same performance of Manfred Mann's Mighty Quinn, one with noticeable fading, the other with a clear background. The "Save Me" promo is my personal fave DDDBMT clip of them all. It's just great pure fun... silly but utterly charming. Could you imagine any bands today making a video like that? Probably not. Some bands these days take themselves far too seriously. I like modern and older acts, but what I like about the vintage acts is that they didn't take themselves too seriously, they could do novelty songs or serious songs in a novelty style without having to prove themselves to show their talent. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich put a lot of fun into their innovative songs and I never knew there was so much material existing, albeit probably most outside the BBC, but very good material. From what I gather, Blue Peter is quite well represented, so it's probably thanks to this that the Hold Tight performance survives in the archives. Thanks also for the more recent live clip of "Xanadu"... I really enjoyed seeing and hearing that. Nice to hear that Dee's voice was in fine shape as was his whipping! I hadn't realized that recent performances of Dave and his band had been uploaded until last week, which nicely compliment the original studio and early live versions of chart hits. Although mostly outside the BBC, most of their chart hits thankfully exist. I'm still a bit shocked and sad by Dee's passing. Always loved the music so for me, it's a big loss. I agree. I had no idea Dave had cancer until the sad news. Probably he didn't want the public to know, hoping that he would recover from his illness, but the legacy of Dave and his band lives on. I sadly never got to see Dave and his band live on stage but Youtube helps fill in the gaps of both recordings that exist at and outside the BBC, including live concert performances.

So sad to hear this, I'm glad we have some performances of Dave's to remember him by, be they Blue Peter or TOTP, he always looked like he enjoyed himself and I think that came across in his music. Lets hope some more music clips from this era are recovered before too long and particularly some more DDBMT! I wonder if any of the material that he hinted that he owned(Ready steady, go and others) will now surface as he always seemed reluctant to release archive shows that he had the rights to?
