Did these Dad's Army recoveries come from Bob Monkhouse's collection? Or is that another unrelated topic? Hi Dave, The recordist/collector wasn't Bob Monkhouse, but Midlands Today may well be doing a feature on the individual next week. All will be revealed then! Regards, Paul

Thanks Paul. I look forward to reading the revelations here.
If you're talking with the collector again, and you think of it, please pass on my thanks for saving two very valuable pieces of Dad's Army history, along with all the other material. It is so pleasing for me having made extensive searches myself for such material in the past.

Yes, I can't wait for Missing Believed Wiped next week, to see some of the highlights of the recovered Bob Monkhouse collection! Did these Dad's Army recoveries come from Bob Monkhouse's collection? Or is that another unrelated topic? It was mentioned in relation to Greg commenting that this has been a fruiful time for recoveries. One of the big recoveries of late has been the Monkhouse collection, which is getting a preview at the NFT next week. Not unrelated, no!

Andy, the full as broadcast version of Battle of the Giants exists, however you may be thinking of an extra scene involving sheep they filmed on location but never used due to time constraints. The BBC screened (twice i think) a version cut down by five minutes) but they have also screened the full version in recent times and that is what was released i believe. As or the extra scene in Mum's Army, I'm not sure it ever existed in the broadcast version. The tape that David Croft gave Carmen Silvera may well have been from the editing room before the episode was cut down. I have not heard of anything missing from The Battle Of Godfrey's Cottage - can you please elaborate? Yes - Battle of the Giants apparently has some lost dialogue between Wilson and Captain Square in Mainwaring's office (only a few lines referring to drink). I believe Ralph and Kevin were trying to hunt down a recording of this prior to the DVD release. Mum's Army is the much fabled end sequence reputably given to Carmen Silvera and already discussed on another thread. Godfrey's Cottage came under suspicion a few years back as prior to the close of the episode Hodges seems to appear out of nowhere - though I suspect this might have been a bad edit. Audio recordings may or may not put to bed any myths about missing sequences from these episodes however... I
