All this talk about "The Quatermass Experiment" I feel is mere wishful thinking. How much "lost" material has actually surfaced from the early 50's, let alone home or cine recordings? It is well known the BBC filmed the first two episodes and decided not to film the remaining episodes. Given that this was not really very long after the war, and Britain was still getting back onto it's feet, I'd think that home tape recorders would had been very thin on the ground given that magnetic recording tape was a fairly new medium so would only had been affordable to the very rich. And I just cannot see why anybody in such a position would had thought of taping the soundtracks, let alone pointing a cine camera at the screen.
As far as I'm concerned, it's gone. It vanished the moment it was broadcast. The chances of any kind of home recordings are exceedingly slim and unlikely. Whilst stranger things HAVE happened, I take into account the reality of that time when it was broadcast and feel it's extremely unlikely anything other than what the BBC have will ever surface.

I too am of the opinion that it is pretty unlikely that the quatermass experiment will surface. I do however think it likely that at some point more ancient recordings will surface from "some source". Think how incredibly unlikely the conditions for the recovery of ancient BBC broadcasts from America were, but it still happened! I would have to go and get my copy of 'missing believed wiped' to verify it, but didnt freak sunspot activity cause RCA technicians to be able to record pre war BBC broadcasts on 35mm film? I recall thats the story. Now if that isnt something intensely unlikely I dont know what is. The odds are frankly against Quatermass turning up, but stranger things have evidently happened!!!

Yes, that is true. I saw the recordings at MBW a few years ago. Very poor quality indeed but fascinating.

Weird, I has been allowed in the past to post links to radio shows here. I could rattle of a list. but it seems I cant put the newly 'found" hancocks here. funny that!
any reason?
