A look at the BFI website has possibly solved some of the confusion. Yes there are two different versions of the 1965 show - the transmitted version plus one that is described as 'unedited' however the unedited version does not contain everything that's in the tx version (!)
Here's their shot-list for part two: (note that it includes Twinkle and her backing group are billed as the Gonks).

John Lennon is presented with an award as the runner-up in the "British vocal personality section". The other three members of the group then walk on stage to accept their awards along with Lennon (1.12.53). Group leaves stage followed by end titles over ELS of the hall (1.13.22 mins). Notes: The awards which the performers receive during the closing ceremony are placed on a table on the stage. As the winners walk on to the stage, following the announcement of the pertinent result by Derek Johnson, the awards are picked up by an unidentified gentleman, who hands them to Tony Bennett, who then presents them to the award winners. No acceptance speeches are made by the winners, and the conversations between them and Bennett cannot be heard either. Maurice Kinn stands to one side co-ordinating the presentations. The audience at the concert is seated in front of the stage, on tiered seating on both sides, and also on tiered seating to the rear of the stage. "New Musical Express Poll Winners Concert" posters are placed both at the front and rear of the stage. The concert was recorded on Sunday April 11 and transmitted in two parts on the following consecutive Sundays of 18 and 25 April 1965. The Archive only holds the 25 April transmission.
