Hi, I recently bought the wonderful DVD "Lost in Time" which included many great clips from the missing episodes. As it is from 2004, are there any new important Hartnell/Troughton clips that have been discovered since then, and if so what are they and when will they be available for the general public to see? Many thanks for any information, Hugh.

Yes, I remember the BBC had a video segment posted on the classic section of thier Doctor Who website. It featured shots of the now iconic Dalek assembly line ( which is apparently longer than the existing footage for the assembly segment ), and then followeed by different shot of the capsule catching the capsule wall, and daleks from a side angle, then the clip stops. As I recall this bit of footage actually went to air and a fan recognized the unique footage and contacted them about it. I found the origional news article posted by the BBC on the clip, is also a link to the rediscovered clip segments. But when I just attempted to play and would not, not sure there: www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2005/09/21/24786.shtmlCheers, Lance.

Only disappointments however were that it was only 86 kbps, plus the microscopic size that the bbc reduced the video to. I know how to grab streamed video without the need for installing any stupid programs, but at such size and quality I didn't even bother to. Anyone know if the footage has been put on a reconstruction ?? Begs the question how many other 'old' programmes might contain 'lost' footage ? Has the beeb ever done a check of things like this, because from the evidence so far, i.e this prog and the tomorrows world prog, it would seem that they haven't.

I seem to recall that there is a man in the employ of the beeb who stays back after hours to look through the leaders of film reels and so forth for bits and pieces. Wasnt that how some Troughton fury clips were found, or have I hallucinated the whole thing??

Wasnt that how some Troughton fury clips were found, or have I hallucinated the whole thing?? No, you are correct. There is a guy who looks through leaders etc in his spare time. But since recent clip finds have been made from old progs, it would seem that that is also an avenue to explore. Sadly due to the enormous amount of documentaries, science progs or whatever else might contain clips of lost Who, to look through, in that realistically every such prog would need to be watched in almost their entirety, I fear that new 'lost' clips from this avenue will only be made by a 1 in a billion chance. And we wouldn't have even had these dalek clips, tomorrows world clip, or the c for computer clip if it wasn't for expert Who enthusiasts watching the tv at just the right time.

They were found by Andrew Martin (of these very boards) who discovered them doing his everyday job in the BBC Archive. Richard

Interesting Richard! Do you know what the exact circumstances of the recovery were, just for the record? Cheers

Am I losing my mind? I could have sworn that some rcovered Galaxy 4 clips were included on a DVD release as extras... I KNOW I've seen them... but for the life of me I can't remember where. Can anyone help?
