If there is even as you put it a 'vague' chance that they may still exist. Shouldn't that 'vague' chance be looked into by someone at the BBC saying something like 'Hey there's this idea that the original enterprise index cards for Dr Who (and everything else)may contain information that may aid in the recovery of currently lost episodes. How can we trace what happened to the cards and possibly have another look at them?'
The avenue has already been explored (several times) and it's always come to a dead end. It's highly unlikely that the cards have survived and the Enterprises documentation has been put into storage (which, given the company's vast range of interests, could be related to anything) isn't coming out again.
Already been done. He can't remember.
And BTW if Ian had seen 253 cards, this seems to confirm that DMP7 indeed was transfered to 16mm film, because otherwise there would only have been 252 cards.
You're the one who quoted "253 cards". I certainly wasn't going to bother counting them all up before replying. We already know that The Feast of Steven wasn't telerecorded. Ian confirmed that there was no card for it back in 1978 and we know for a fact that it was being offered to Australia as an 11-part story only five weeks after the end of its UK transmission.

Re number of cards: Sorry, I got that he had seen '253' cards from a different aticle.
Re storage: If what is in storage ain't ever coming out again. It begs the inevitable question what have the bbc got that they want to hide?. But Dr Who index cards aside, I suppose it's beside the point really.
Re memory: For a guy who can seemingly tell the title and issue number of a vast array of different American comics just by looking at their covers. But not being able to recall the type of information held on index cards given that he is such a Dr Who fan, seems to indicate a pretty selective memory. And will inevitably plant seeds in peoples minds that on some things Dr Who he may know more than what he wants to share.
(And that's not an attack on the man, (because without his efforts in the first place we would have had virtually no 60's Who at all) but merely a general observation that a neutral outsider may percieve)
