Anyone know why this is out of print now? I’m thinking of buying it, unless it is known that it’s coming out again with more episodes or something...

It's 13 years since the series was released on DVD, since then it might have been discontinued, thus the only copies available are in private hands. I have seen good condition DVD boxsets on ebay for £30 on a good day.

Kaleidoscope have it (they found it) but I'm not sure if they screened it or not (or what's the sound equivalent of screening). There was talk of animating the episode, but nothing has been heard of it for some time (pun half intended). I bought my set for a fiver in Holland, where the DVD had inexplicably been released as well, even though no-one there knew the program at all.

If there had not been a full dvd release then it would be a nice extra, however as a standard alone item it might not be commercial viable release. Is the Holland version any different to the UK release?

Well the animation apparently has been done.
On the BFI website for MBW 2019 session one Includes this “ Adam Adamant Promo A five-minute sneak preview of an upcoming animated version of a missing episode of the famous fantasy series.”
