Hi all, I have an off air VHS of a programme broadcast in 1987 on Anglia TV (which includes an on air announcer !!, Judy Lines, and an static endcap for an 'Anglia Presentation'.) They called the programme 'Rock of the 70s', but all the credits were in French. It featured a 1970 studio session from Genesis. I havent watched it for ages, but remember 'Return of the Giant Hogweed', and 'Musical Box', as being two of the tracks they performed. It sounded live and not mimed. Does this series still exist anywhere, and can anyone tell me of its origins?
PS. The next week's programme was Emerson Lake and Palmer in concert, i did tape it and watched it once, but wiped it (damn!!). Any help of this would be most welcome.

The 'Rock of the 70s' programme was in fact a Belgian broadcast from 'Popshop' filmed at the Pop Deux studios in Brussels, Belgium during Monday 20th March & Tuesday 21st March 1972. Not to be confused with 'Toppop' from Avro which is Dutch. Gladly the Belgians are efficient with their archiving, you only have to look at the quality of another Belgian production 'Tienerklanken' to realise this, the whole Genesis show is in excellent condition and it's available on the Genesis CD/DVD box set called "Genesis 1970-1975". The four songs performed were: The Fountain Of Salmacis / Twilight Alehouse / The Musical Box / The Return Of The Giant Hogweed - (29 Minutes 21 Seconds). The whole session was live. This was made in the days before barbers judging by the length of Mr. Gabriel/Collins/Hackett/Rutherford/Banks hair! ;D

I never heard of this series before, Nic. The Genesis listing is interesting but can you give us a run down of what the other programmes were please? Were these those filmed concerts that I might have seen in late night slots back in the eighties or before? If so I can remember programmes with Curved Air and Atomic Rooster too, all on film.

As far as I know, now available 10 episodes recorded off the air to VHS. Genesis - released officially Curved Air - released officially as "Ultimate Anthology" DVD, "Masters From The Vaults" DVD, "Music In Review" DVD Family - difficult for me to say that here, because I had never seen... Atomic Rooster - released officially as "Masters From The Vaults" DVD Renaissance - pre-Annie Haslam line-up, circulates multiple copies of different (but low) quality... However, it does not look like performance in the studio... Brian Auger's Oblivion Express - not released officially If - not released officially Van Der Graaf Generator - released officially, well-known film Black Sabbath - any info.. Emerson, Lake & Palmer - released officially, also well-known film

I am pleased there was one featuring Oblivion Express. I have never seen anything by the group before so it's something to add to the pop acts missing from the archives thread as well! Is there any more television by them does anybody know?
