Some of the youtube links on the previous page are from www.bbc.co.uk/heritage/in_depth/70tv/index.shtmlClick the link "View video clips from Television comes to London, Picture Page and more >>" at the right hand side - as well as the aforementioned clips there's also the 1936 film "Television Comes To London" in its entirety! There's other archive clips here - www.birth-of-tv.org/birth/(This is where the Kennedy/Clock clip came from.) Not all of the links to the clips work though.

Hello Again, Found a rather interesting clip on youtube relating to the first experimental presentation of the John Logie Baird TV system. It was broadcast live from 133 Long Acre, London, on the 14th July 1930 origionally. But Then in 1967 it was remade by Bill Elliot, a technician working at Granada TV he apparently used the same 1930's equipment and techniques and the 30 line output was recorded on audio tape recorder for the separate audio track that was added in accompaniment to the footage. The yputube poster did not think much of all this surprisingly, I think it is very interesting look into a recreated portion of early uk tv: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJoYskwKxsMHere is a southern TV ident from the 1960's, the clip seemed to freeze part way on my PC, maybe it will work better on other PC's, have a look: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pcsNVmzTt0Last appearance of the Southern TV logo. At least that is what is stated on the clip by the poster: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbG-U_mOl3kNeat nostalgic station start up segment for Southern tv as seen in the 1950's and 1960's: www.youtube.com/watch?v=121-5HJngYsPhiil Silvers 1950's show intro: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm8zsfEwKLUBBC interlude film, train ride London to Brighton in 4 minutes !: www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7GXWuTwkF8BBC news and Newsreel 1954 ! www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKn1beD_KdkBBC Andy Pandy 1952: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZxwS1bZAmILaurell and Hardy on a BBC TV segment called " Order Of The Water Rats". Here is what the youtube description stated on this clip: This is the last broadcast that Laurel and Hardy ever made. It was shown on BBC in 1955 and is a video message to the Water Rats. Hello Hartley,
I had only stated what I thought the description had stated about the clip. Here is the description from you-tube:
this is from a live concert recorded for UK TV. It was shown on Anglia TV in the 1980's - I've never seen it anywhere again since, I've cut it into you-tube size pieces & I will upload it all bit by bit. On this clip you can see all the Rockers arriving at the BBC Studios on their motorbikes.
When it stated BBC studios I had thought it was a BBC program aired by ITV, so sorry for the mis information, I was only going by what was stated there, apologies for that past oversight.
Lance.

Oh - Telstar - I remember seeing that.
What they were very careful to avoid saying was that the BBC/GPO (Goonhilly Down) set-up was un-official. The official European earth station was in France, I think.
Goonhilly did get a very fuzzy picture that night whereas France apparently had a near perfect one (no mention of it on the Beeb, of course). The reason was that Telstar transmitted using circular polarisation, and the GPO had set up their receiver with the wrong 'thread', resulting in a 10s of dB loss.

Back Again, I have in these past few postings had some material that was not BBC. I was merely hoping that people would enjoy these vintage UK TV clips, and thought a few might work well along these old BBC TV clips. I have one item to show that is from Thames TV, the rest is BBC. The Thames TV item is a old Christmas tape, like those of the BBC VT department, guess this came from the Thames VT guys. Some neat actors make appearances, like Des O Connor and Jim Davidson: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHRgrTudkc4www.youtube.com/watch?v=n15sVec1YdENow for the good stuff at the center of this posting ! BBC Blue Peter 60s with Freddie & the dreamers! www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBvSlF49uTQBehind the Scenes Photo montage of the BBC TV studios as they were in the early 1970's, some neat and rare photos: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaN6CsG-lZYBBC Vision On 1960's and 1970's intros and show clips, neat stuff, and 7 minutes of footage. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq8JoTaVCZADistributed by BBC TV Enterprises (60's). This was apparently a easter egg on the Dr Who release of The Aztecs. Wonder if this was on the recovered film prints for this story ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi9riC7B16UHope you enjoyed the clips. Any comments or suggestions for future clip ideas, or info on the posted clips would be much appreciated. Cheers, Lance.
