Beachcomber - 1st series gone - 2nd series 1 b/w TR of ep. 5- 20/10/69, and 1 colour 35mm film sequence from ep. 2 - 29/9/69, an an extract on PAL tape from another (unknown) ep.
Curry and Chips all exists on PAL, Oh In Colour is now Oh in black and white and some negative! - the first 3 on 16mm TR negative and the rest on 16mm TR positive.
Milligan in... Autumn - junked, Winter, Spring, Summer all on PAL.

Thanks for the quick response. A better survivial rate then I thought. Do you know what the extracts from Beachcomber and In Colour consist of?

Beachcomber - only listed as film insert in Kal, Oh In Colour - did I hear on the "Best of Q" strand it may be the opening titles?

The Melting Pot all exists amazingly, although I believe episode 1 is on U-Matic only.

The Melting Pot all exists amazingly, although I believe episode 1 is on U-Matic only. The film sequences for the original pilot (which is presumably part one of the series) still exist. Steve

Spike has done reasonably well in the archives compared to some, althuogh it's not always his most interesting offerings that are preserved. However, there is a lot that it would be good to see again, including those lesser known shows mentioned above. Can't see it happening though as his humour is now viewed with suspicion by the PC thought police. A great shame.

Did Spike have anything to do with "The Jewel In The Crown", another re-make, or can anyone tell when the untransmitted pilot was made?

Yes, he was in it. It was made around 1985. Eric Sykes also starred.

As far as I know, yes. I used to have a very ropey time-coded copy of it (quality was too bad to bother keeping!) It's very much a Curry & Chps-territory retread, although not as well realised.

Also exists as TR16 sound only from :
06/10/69 13/10/69
Makes you wonder if the corresponding pictures are out there somewhere?

For anyone who's interested, I've been told the following:
The Jewel in the Crown, Southall, Middx
Recorded February 1985
Opening titles: 2'00" Recording block: 86'20"
There also appears to be two separate edits: 37'30" and 35'36". Both exist in various formats.
Hope this helps.
